Is the prowler now targetting Sterling Park?

Up until last week, the string of prowler incidents I have reported on were all in Leesburg and Ashburn Farm.

Now, some things have happened in Sterling Park that may be related, so you folks out there need to be on the lookout as well.

First of all, there was the sexual assault of an elderly woman in Sterling Park early Aug. 29 that you can read about here.

Now, it seems that a woman who lives in the 700 block of Dickenson Avenue in Sterling Park was awoken at about 3:46 a.m. Sept. 3 and saw someone outside of her window. Did this woman narrowly escape being the prowler's next victim?

The Sheriff's Office isn't sure. There were no signs of attempted break-in, and police were unable to locate the person. It must have been scary for that woman nonetheless.

Everyone in the county needs to stay alert.  Keep your doors and windows locked, and if you hear something at night, check it out. Don't just write it off as something else and go back to sleep.

Remember the sniper attacks? When police reported that the shooter or shooters would stay in the D.C. Metro area, they attacked near Richmond to prove them wrong. When police said that they were pretty sure the sniper would only shoot adults, a child was shot.

If this is the same person in all of these prowler incidents, it's hard to tell where he'll go or what he'll do next. Be aware. Anyone could be a victim, so don't convince yourself that you're immune.

If you do see anything suspicious, call the Sheriff's Office 703-777-1021.

“Loudoun residents are the best eyes and ears of their community to determine if someone or something is out of place. You know your neighborhood better than anyone else,” Sheriff Steve Simpson said.

Who knows? You may just crack these cases open with a tip.

If you know anything about the previous attacks, call investigators at 703-777-0475. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919. Anyone with information leading to an arrest and indictment could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

Stay safe Loudoun,

x Jana
