Raiders net 31st straight win

Another match. Another victory for the LCHS volleyball team Thursday night.

The Raiders survived a tough challenge from Potomac Falls to win 25-23, 25-12, 23-15 and 25-19 and improve to 3-0 this season.

The defending Virginia AA champions have now won 31 consecutive matches, 47 out of 48 matches and 31 straight matches against Dulles District opponents.

Take a look at which Raiders shined:

Shaylin O'Connell controlled the net with 15 kills.  Other key contributors were Juliane Hanna (9 kills, 7 service points, 4 digs, 2 blocks), Rachel Arigo (7 kills, 7 blocks, 7 service points, 4 digs), Emily Vandegrift (5 kills, 3 blocks), Katie Gloe (4 kills, 5 digs), Robin Marsala (22 assists, 6 points, 2 aces), Kerry Sarver (13 assists, 11 service points, 4 digs), Kathleen Horvath (11 digs, 10 points, 3 aces).

And some top Panther performers:

-Tori Janowski had 10 kills, 12 assists, 12 defensive saves, 3 aces and 4 service points.
-Cat Jones had 7 kills, 2 solo blocks and 4 assisted blocks, 1 ace with 6 service points.
-Kerry Dwyer had 17 defensive saves, 5 service points.
-Alexa Campbell had 5 kills, 2 blocks, 7 defensive saves, 1 ace and 6 service points.
-Sara Hibson had 5 kills, 2 blocks, and 7 defensive saves.
-Nicole Fauteux had 1 kill, 2 aces with 3 service points, 1 block, 12 assists and 6 defensive saves.
-Kate Colfelt had 8 defensive saves, 2 aces and 9 service points.

For those looking to catch a good match in the near future, Broad Run hosts Heritage Sept. 9 in Ashburn. Varsity starts 20 minutes after the J.V. match concludes, normally somewhere between 7-7:30 p.m.

Also, Loudoun County and host Stone Bridge make up half the four-team field in the Surebet Bulldog Classic Sept. 13.
