Freedom's Porter closing in on college hoops decision

Freedom Eagles senior point guard Meixandra Porter has trimmed her list of college destinations to Colorado State, Richmond, Kent State and Howard.

Porter, an All-Dulles District first team selection as a junior, is considering scholarship offers from each of the above schools and will likely commit in October.

The standout guard is not the only Eagle garnering college interest. Junior center Kelsey Buchanan, another Dulles first teamer, is receiving looks from Delaware, Colgate, Duquesne, LaSalle and Richmond.

Freedom coach Jason Eldredge thinks Buchanan's college stock can rise to higher level Div. I programs if she has a standout junior season.

Sophomore guard/forward Dionna Scott has also started gaining college interest. Scott was a second team All-District performer as a freshman.

The trio helped lead the Eagles to the Region II playoffs last winter, an impressive feat in just the South Riding's schools third year.
