Ashburn Blog: Broadlands Live returns May 12

Broadlands Live, Ashburn's longest-running outdoor concert series, will launch its 14th season May 12 at 42935 Waxpool Road in Hillside Park.

With new bands, a new food truck and plenty of other family-friendly activities, event chairwoman Renee Ventrice said they are ready to begin the season.

“The event is free and provides a great lineup of local bands. We often have as many as 800 people attend,” Ventrice said.

The May 12 show will kick off with The Great Zucchini at 5 p.m., followed by Kelly Neff's blues, folk, funk and rock music at 6 p.m., and ending with “traditional bluegrass music” by Chris Henry and Hard Core Grass at 7:30 p.m.

Parallel Wine and Whiskey Bar of Ashburn will be showcasing its new food truck at the event, offering a “higher-end” menu at reasonable prices, according to Ventrice. There will also be “swag bag” raffles and activities for kids. The event is BYOB with identification.

The first show of the night is geared for kids and helps bring people out in time to see the opening band. “We have a great community of volunteers, and we are grateful for all of our sponsors who help make this happen,” Ventrice said.

The lineup for the 2017 season includes:

-June 9 – Folk, Rock and 60's Pop with Nowhere Men, Sunny and the Bee, and Throwing Pilates.
-July 14 – Rock and Roll hits past and present with Drew Blue Shoes, Ella Levri, 8 Track Jones, and Junk Food.
-August 11 – Alternative Rock and Top 40 Hits with Tracy Elderidge Music, Will Saltzman, QOK, and For the Win.

For regular updates, follow Broadlands Live on Facebook. In the event of severe weather, the show will be canceled or moved to the Broadlands Community Center at 43004 Waxpool Road.
