Ashburn Blog: Waltonwood begins moving in residents this month

Waltonwood Ashburn's independent living, assisted living and memory care facility is set to begin moving in residents Nov. 27. This is the first Waltonwood facility to open in Virginia.

Located on Russell Branch Parkway near Ashbrooke Commons Plaza, Waltonwood is owned by Singh Management, which was started in Michigan by four brothers in the 1970's.

Marketing manager Mark Frazier said there are plans to build several more facilities in the area – including one in South Riding and in Reston. There are seven Waltonwood locations in Michigan and three in North Carolina.

“Northern Virginia is an area of growth for the company,” Frazier said.

The Ashburn location currently has 114 independent living apartments, and next spring they will open 99 assisted living and memory care units.

On the independent living side, there are one and two bedroom units with full laundry facilities in each apartment. One bedrooms range in size from 720 square feet to 920 square feet and the two bedrooms are 950 square feet to 1400 square feet.

Waltonwood's community prides itself on being “resort-style living” with features such as an indoor salt water pool, a white tablecloth dining rorom experience, hair and nail salon, movie theater, state-of-the-art exercise room and classes, cooking classes, art and hobby space, and solarium with gardening area.

Every day there are planned activities for residents to enjoy – both inside and outside in the community, Frazier said.

“We offer trips to the Smithsonians, wineries, and other fun activities where we can make use of this great area,” Frazier said.

The experiences are “resident-driven” depending on what people want to do and see, he added.

Frazier said the dining experience is described as “upscale food presented with flair,” and residents are able to bring guests in to dine with them as well. Breakfast and dinner are served daily.

Rents start at $4,695 per month for a one bedroom and $5,695 for a two bedroom unit.

“Waltonwood provides worry-free living, which is attractive because it is a way to make life as easy as possible. We empower residents to be independent,” Frazier said.

“Elf Jr. The Musical” on stage at Eagle Ridge this weekend

Students at Eagle Ridge Middle School will present a family show, "Elf Jr. The Musical" on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $7/adults and $5/students or in advance online at https://www.lcps.org/domain/15474.

The Eagle Ridge 70 minute production closely follows the movie version. The show features 52 students who run the full production, from the technical aspects of set creation, lighting and sound to a cast of 50 students performing in eye-popping, colorful, festive costumes.

"This year’s show is a fresh rendition of a beloved modern holiday film,” said Eagle Ridge Director Beverly Pruzina. “These amazing kids will show the Loudoun community that middle school children (ages 11-14) can bring the spirit of Christmas to life. It is the perfect way to get into the Holiday Spirit so you don’t want to miss it!”

All ticket proceeds support the school’s Drama Club and the ERMS PTA.
