Middleburg Blog: Community to discuss new Aldie Fire Station proposal

On Nov. 16 at 7 p.m., the Aldie community will meet at the Church of Our Redeemer, 39518 John Mosby Highway (Route 50), to discuss Loudoun County's new proposal for the Aldie Fire Station. The Aldie Heritage Association strongly encourages members of the community to attend this meeting as this is a huge project with consequences for, not only the village of Aldie, but most of the residents in South Loudoun.

Two Loudoun County Supervisors, Phyllis Randall and Tony Buffington, will attend the meeting as well as staff from the Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure and the Fire and Rescue Department.

Florian Hauswiesner, President of Aldie Heritage Association, says, the AHA and many Aldie residents are deeply troubled by the plans of the county to build an oversized fire station in the village and its plans to raze several historic buildings in the process. Many residents believe that the proposed building is completely out of line with the historical character of Aldie and has the potential to destroy the entrance of the Village of Aldie that serves as the gateway to Loudoun Valley. It is not acceptable that all historic buildings between the village entrance and the existing fire station are marked for demolition.
