River Creek Blog: Artists and authors

River Creek resident Jim Hauser engages in an art form known as digital abstracts. He recently has been admitted into the Tryst Gallery in Leesburg with three of his “paintings.” He says, “My work is created on a tablet (the iPad Pro) using my finger or Apple pencil as the drawing or painting tool. I also use a number of art related apps to get the desired effects.”

He says he then transfers the digital version to paper, canvas or even metal to get the desired effects. When he uses canvas he sometimes adds texture with acrylics.

“I prefer the appearance of aluminum as the substrate and have printed it on many of my recent paintings,” he says.

Hauser has been a working artist all his life. He is the consultant and co-owner of one of the largest stained glass organizations in the world—Willet Hauser Architectural Glass. The company has been involved in several high-profile projects: the National Cathedral in Washington, The Cadets Chapel at West Point, Arlington National Cemetery and The National Presbyterian Church.

Hauser plans to conduct classes on digital art for anyone who is interested. You can email him at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 608-498-9358.

Another River Creek resident, Dr. Rudy Garrity has written a book entitled “Your Integrated Life Matters, A Whole Brain Life Management Mindset for Learning, Leading and Legacy Success in the American Tradition.” One review sums up the purpose of the book: “The book explains in great detail that no matter how much we as a human species want to learn, learning itself is a lifelong pursuit that involves challenging oneself to go beyond the mere ability to absorb and remember data.”

Dr. Garrity will host a book signing at the River Creek Club on April 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. He’s hoping to “share the breadth of my book and program within our community.” He has another book signing scheduled at Books a Million in Leesburg on April 29 from 2-5 p.m. and later at the Dulles Mall in Sterling, May 6 from 2-5 p.m.

Garrity obtained an MBA from Monmouth University and a DPA from the University of Southern California. He is a Total Knowledge Education member at the George Washington University Institute for Knowledge and Innovation. He is also a Learning and Knowledge Faculty Member at Bangkok University in Thailand.
