River Creek Blog: Charity Classic at River Creek

The River Creek Club will sponsor a golf outing on Sept.17 to benefit Capital Caring‘s Adler Center, Augies Quest and the Employee Partner Care Foundation. The golf tournament will start at 1 p.m. following registration at 11:30 a.m. The Club will provide a box lunch along with the golf fee for $120. There will be a dinner at 6 p.m. with a silent auction for $50 per person. Various levels of sponsorship are available. Members and their guests are welcome. To register visit classic.als.net.

The Adler Center serves terminally ill patients in a 21-bed homelike environment. Augies Quest seeks cures for the fatal disease ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis—commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Employee Partner Care Foundation of Club Corps lends aid to Club Corps employees.

River Creek Art Show

A committee of River Creek residents including Bea Snyder, Kristi Nimmo, Tom Parent, Vicki Edwards, and Joanna Schelling are organizing the 15th annual River Creek Art Show, scheduled for Sept.15, 5-7:30 p.m. at the Clubhouse. Snyder says, “The Show will feature the works of 16 River Creek artists and will include paintings in oil, acrylics and watercolor as well as photography, glass, woodcuts and jewelry. Residents are invited to attend and bring guests.” Refreshments will be available at half price between 5 and 7 p.m.

Senior Spelling Bee

Ashleigh at Lansdowne, a senior living community, will host the sixth annual Senior Spelling Bee. The event will take place on Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. - noon. Ashleigh seeks potential spellers from senior centers, assisted living communities, independent living communities and other groups of seniors 55 and older to sign up and participate. The Bee will be offering prizes, trophies and refreshments. Ashleigh is located at 44125 Woodbridge Parkway in Lansdowne. Bluegrass BBQ and Festival

Residents of Lansdowne can join the Bluegrass BBQ festival on Sept. 16 from 2-6 p.m. at the Potomac Club in Lansdowne. The variety of elements are designed to appeal to folks of all ages: BBQ, beer garden, wine tent, kids zone and bluegrass music by The Bellevue Rhythmaires.
