River Creek Blog: Jingle Bell Rock

The River Creek Club in collaboration with the River Creek Owners Association will have a Jingle Bell Rock Holidayfest from 4 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 3. Activities include karaoke, ornament decorating, a gingerbread house competition, cookie exchange and hot chocolate bar. Residents can register with Laura Pitt on Weekend Buzz.

The Holiday Spirit

Volunteers from River Creek have been collecting toys from Dollar Tree Stores in Northern Virginia. The toys will be distributed to military families and their children on behalf of Operation Homefront (OH), an organization that provides emergency assistance for military families.

Recently, the Dollar Tree Store in Sterling Plaza had a large, heavy box full of toys that had to be carried out to the car for delivery to the OH office. One of the employees left a customer ready to check out stranded at the register to come and take the box to the car. With joyful attitude that customer dropped her merchandise and helped lug the box to the car.

Ashburn Volunteer Fire Rescue Department (AVFR)

AVFR’s Station 22, located in Lansdowne, serves River Creek in case of fire and medical emergencies. AVFR’s representative, Barbara Murphy, wanted to make sure these residents are aware of this. She says, “What this means is that if someone in community were to call 911, the responders from Station 22 in Lansdowne would be called to respond.” Previously it was in the hands of Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company. For interested parties, Station 22 periodically has open house tours to give the public insight on how they function and what resources they have. These will be noted in this column in advance. Ms. Murphy says, “We will be selling fresh Christmas trees wreaths, ornaments and Christmas cards—with hot cider and free delivery to your door.” To place an order go to Ashburnfirerescue.org
