River Creek Blog: White House Bound

Three members of the River Creek Community have been invited to attend the seventh annual Soldier Ride DC at the White House on behalf of Operation Homefront (OH). Scheduled for April 6 at 8:30 a.m., the event is in collaboration with the Wounded Warrior Project. The veterans ride bicycles and other similar conveyances on the South Lawn of the White House. OH works with the Wounded Warrior Project to provide emergency assistance for families.

Bill McFadden, chairperson of OH Mid-Atlantic Region, along with Steve Taylor and Woody Wrable, leaders of the cadre of OH volunteers, all from River Creek are attending the event. Taylor said, “I feel honored to be invited.” And that likely reflects the feelings of all three.

River Creek resident Vivian Dietrich, who is the regional director of Operation Homefront, expresses her appreciation. “Operation Homefront is an invited guest to the Soldiers Ride White House reception. We are there to represent our mission of building strong, stable and secure military families and to honor the spirit of our warriors. The reception will recognize the annual Soldiers Ride hosted by Wounded Warriors Project,” she said.

Unfortunately, Dietrich will be unable to attend because she will be making preparations for the Operation Homefront 2017 Military Child of the Year Award that will honor six outstanding military young people, one from each branch of service.
