South Riding Book Club Meets Local Author

photoAuthor Kevin Flynn with some South Riding Book Club Members
There are many book clubs in South Riding. Few seem to be alike. Some read only the classics, some discuss the bible, some tend to be a bit more remedial by selection while others enjoy the wine and socializing so much, they never actually get around to reading or discussing anything book related!

While our book club does fall into a few of those categories, one thing remains the same. Each year, we try to read a book by a local author and have the author run the book discussion. This year, we read Relentless Pursuit by Kevin Flynn.

Flynn began his career as an attorney in a private law firm. In the 90’s, he joined the US attorney’s office as a prosecutor. Relentless Pursuit tells the true story of the double murder of Diane Hawkins and her daughter Katrina. Flynn tells of the murder, arrest, trial, and verdict in this graphic, detailed, and moving account of a families fight for justice.

In 2008, the Mystery Writers of America named Relentless Pursuit as one of five nominees for its prestigious Edgar Allen Poe Award in the category of "fact crime." The Edgar Awards honor the best in mystery fiction, non-fiction, television and film published or produced.

We found Flynn to be humble but passionate about the work that he does. He seems determined still, to make our world a better place. He is currently working on his next literary project, a work of fiction set in the 1950’s. We look forward to the opportunity to enjoy another read by Kevin Flynn.
