As part of its free “Ask the Expert” lecture series, Inova Loudoun Hospital will host Colorectal Disease: Symptoms, Screenings, and Treatment Options on Wednesday, March 22 from 6 – 7:30 p.m.

Colon and rectal diseases comprise a broad range of conditions and ailments – the severity of which can vary from mildly irritating to life threatening. Some of the more common conditions include colorectal cancer, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, hemorrhoids, and bowel incontinence.

Research has shown that early screening and treatment of colon and rectal diseases can significantly improve treatment outcomes and survival rates. Yet, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) notes that yet many patients delay or don't seek treatment because of lack of knowledge about their disease and its symptoms or they’re too embarrassed to seek help.

Join Board Certified Colorectal Surgeon Dr. Lynda Dougherty and Board Certified Gastroenterologist Dr. Satinder Gill for an informative lecture and Q&A session on colorectal diseases. Attendees will learn about common symptoms and the latest screening and treatment options.

The lecture will be at Inova Loudoun Medical Campus - Leesburg (Cornwall), 224-D Cornwall Street, NW, Medical Office Pavilion, 1st floor Community Room, Leesburg. Free onsite parking is available near the 4-story medical building. Once you enter into the Medical Office Pavilion, turn right. The Community Room is at the end of the hall on the left-hand side.

Participation is free but seating is limited. To register visit http://www.inova.org/AskTheExpert or call 1.855.MY.INOVA (855.694.6682).
