I poached two FOA chicken breasts in red wine with herbs. I steamed some broccoli and then tossed with EVOO and sea salt. I roasted turnips, carrots and potatoes that I had sliced and tossed with EVOO, sea salt and herbs in a 400 degree oven. And as I type, wild salmon is broiling in the oven for lunch. Why all this food? And all before noon? About two days a week I cook a bunch of food leaving me only two or three more nights to cook dinner. I am feeding two mouths for lunch each day and three mouths for dinner each night. If I don’t get ahead every few days we are left either making poor choices i.e. standing at fridge picking at cheese, hummus, whatever or having more nuts and dried fruit then one should have in a day or spending money eating out too often (which is not good for the budget.) Cooking is probably the most important step you can take in creating a healthy lifestyle for you and your family. You know exactly what is in your food, you can balance your meals with the proper necessary nutrients, and it saves money, especially taking leftovers for lunch (which both my baby and I do every weekday.)
Cooking takes effort but working out takes more!
it’s a great point you make about taking the time to plan your meals, do some cooking in advance. it’s very easy to fall into that habit of eating and standing (in front of the fridge)... and i think it becomes unconscious eating. you’re left wondering why you’ve put on a couple of pounds or why you need to go to the store again.
Great tip on cooking. My wife does this for our family, keeping us healthy, wealthy and wise!
