“When there’s a bill that ends up on my desk as President, you, the public, will have five days to look online, to find out what’s in it, before I sign it, so that you know what your government’s doing.”
Barack Obama, February 14, 2009
_____
President Obama signed the health care bill about 36 hours after the House vote. He neither keeps his word nor listens to the public and about this he does not care, which is partly why we now have Obamacare.
But be assured Mr. President that despite your endless and empty words, most observant Americans know what our government’s doing: Led by you, it disregards the will of the people.
The elections in New Jersey, Virginia and Massachusetts, along with numerous similar public opinion polls, made clear that a majority of Americans are opposed to the scope and cost of this health care bill. Still, Obama, Pelosi and Reid rammed it through.
It affects – and who really knows to what degree – one-sixth of the American economy. It’ll cost this broke country about $940 billion (according to its supporters). Only Democrats voted for it, and only three more of them than required to pass it. Every Republican and many Democrats voted against it, so only the opposition was bipartisan. Several states, including Virginia, immediately are filing lawsuits against mandates in the bill.
Given all this, the White House celebration was unsurprisingly arrogantly disproportionate. (Though let’s give some credit to, of all people, turbo gaffe maker Joe Buffoon Biden, who extemporaneously came up with the only description of the health care bill acceptable to both sides.)
Obama, liberals and most Democrats are consistent: They want ever-expanding government control. Banks. Auto companies. College loans. Health care. And much more. Their adrenaline levels high, these folks will seek more government control over people and the private sector.
And what should we expect from the large number of big government and do-nothing Republicans? George W. Bush was tough on terror, but insouciant to expanding government. Yes, he cut taxes, but he spearheaded the prescription drug entitlement and No Child Left Behind. The Bush years were marked by growing government unopposed by Bush and most Republicans. Given this atmosphere, what did we expect when Obama took over?
They all have to go. All of the Democrats. All of the liberal, moderate, complacent and silent Republicans. Our country cannot sustain the reckless, infinite spending and debt, the erosion of freedom and liberty and free enterprise. Our kids do not deserve what today’s irresponsible politicians are doing to their future. It is up to the majority of the rest of us to throw them out and replace them with principled conservatives.
What was the result 8 years after the election in 2000 and 4 years after 2004? Another 5 Trillion in Debt to total $10.7 Trillion on 12/31/08 and a slide into what was about to be a Depression. Same people who were surprised and angered at the result are reliable enough to DICTATE to the rest of us? I don’t think so. But we always get what we vote for. This is an economy designed for financial gains, not making work and opportunities for all Americans. Yes, there are those blinded by ignorance of the evidence and reason. We hear their shrill demands loud and clear. They don’t want to know or care what is truth and they always have an argument that gets in the way of knowing.
The last repeal led by the GOP was the 1999 repeal of the 1933 Glass Steagall act that accomplished its intent - to prevent collapse of the commercial banking system - for the ensuing 66 years. Sen Phil Graham of TX, the author and Senate Finance Committee Chairman declared “we have made a choice for freedom”. Sen Byron Dorgan, one of 8 no votes, lamented “I’m afraid that in ten years from now we’ll look back and wonder why we voted for a bill that caused the collapse of our banking system”.
Well, it did blow up a bubble within 6 years and collapse 9 years later causing over a Trillion in debt and a tax payer bail out. The rage was at the bail out not the desolation by deregulation. Where’s the Republican outrage at that?
Obama is a Muslin Dictator like Hiler. He, and everyone voted for this bill: swore to God to uphold the Constitution. None of them did this according to the Constituion: Amendment 28 to the Consitution. No LAW applies if it does not include to the Senators or Representatives, Equally to the citizens of the United States .
