Lacrosse talent on display tonight in Purcellville

Lacrosse fans will have an opportunity to watch a lot of Division I talent in Purcellville Friday night as Loudoun Valley hosts St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes in a varsity doubleheader.

St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes Att./Mfd. David Solomon (Maryland), Att. Peter Milley (Georgetown) and GK Ben Levy (Syracuse), and Loudoun Valley Mfd. Chris Daddio (Syracuse) and Def. Garrett Swankowski (Virginia) will be on the field for the boys’ game.

The Vikings are also sending the following players to college: Derek Zook (Loyola), Chris Rabung (Pfeiffer), Dylan Zook (Stevenson), Alex Sharrer (Frostburg State) and Wyatt Clay (Greensboro).

St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes’ girls roster is loaded with college signees: Kelly Horton (Maryland), Taelor Salmon (William & Mary), Emily Rhoads (JMU), Reilly Woodman (Georgetown), Katie Nelligan (Franklin & Marshall), Kendall Ackey (Gettysburg), Sheridan Gribbon (Colorado College), Hannah Mullen (Harvard) and Claire Curren (Yale).

Morgan Becker (Liberty), Shannon Harkey (George Mason) and Michelle Zakrzewski (Indiana, Pa.) are some of the top players for the Viking girls.

All four squads are among the top ranked teams in the region. which hopefully will lead to very competitive games. The girls game starts at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow around 7:30 p.m.

Thanks to Dan Sousa of VivaLoudoun for passing along background information for both games. Dan is providing color commentary tonight for Verizon FiOS. 

Both games will be televised on Verizon FiOS Channel 1 local sports on delayed basis and On Demand. Broadcast times are May 5 at 5:30 p.m. for girls and 7:30 for boys.

You can also watch the Broad Run vs. Oakton boys’ lacrosse game May 1 at 3:30 p.m. and May 3 at 7:30 p.m.
