Breakthrough Intercessory Prayer Ministry

Calling and equipping people to become a Breakthrough Prayer Intercessor

Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life” [Revelation 22:17].

Loudoun County is considered to be one of the fastest growing counties in the nation and an instrumental component of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Many church leaders now believe transformation in the Body of Christ within Loudoun County is a major catalyst in what ministers and layman alike regard as the long awaited spiritual revival in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Did you know we have a powerful international prayer ministry headquartered in Loudoun? Breakthrough Intercessory Prayer Ministry located in Lincoln, Virginia was founded in 1980 by well-known Christian author Catherine Marshall and her husband, Leonard LeSourd. This non-denominational, non-profit, evangelical ministry processes over a hundred thousand prayer requests annually. These requests go to a network of nearly 4,000 intercessors who pray individually and faithfully for each request. Their prayer family extends into nearly eighty countries worldwide.

Prayer requests may be sent by mail, phone, and fax and via the internet where they are then received by six of Breakthrough’s 4,000 intercessors around the world who agree to pray for 21 days for each request. Prayer requests are identified by first name only and are never sent to intercessors in the same geographic location as the prayer requester. Individuals requesting prayer will have their own team of dedicated intercessors holding their needs up before the Lord. People often report an increased peace of mind and sounder sleep during the 21 day prayer phase.

The 21 day prayer period is based on the story in Daniel Chapter 10. Daniel’s total self denial coupled with intense prayer for 3 weeks reached the Throne of God and an angel was sent to fight his battle for him. For 21 days Daniel prayed without ceasing and interceded before the heavenly court on behalf of the people of God. The angel informed Daniel that “his words were heard, and I have come in response to them.” This chapter demonstrates the immense power of prayer that can even call angels from heaven to help God’s people. One should understand that when you are going through a spiritual battle or seeking an answer to a prayer request, you must not give up but fast, pray without ceasing and wait to hear from our Father in Heaven through Jesus Christ, who will strengthen you.

Breakthrough intercessors may receive scriptural insights from God for the prayer requester. These messages, in the form of Scripture verses, are forwarded to the person requesting prayer. In the same fashion, prayer requesters send their answers to prayer to Breakthrough staff which are then forwarded to the intercessors. The written responses to prayer act as encouragement to the intercessors for their faithfulness in praying so diligently.

Breakthrough Intercessory Prayer Ministry is truly visionary in that how it started began with a vision. Catherine Marshall woke up one morning with a “heavy spirit,” and in a vision she saw two components of supply and demand. She said that “one was of this huge group of people, wounded, thirsty, frightened sheep who had lost their way and were reaching out frantically asking for help. The second was a picture of a growing number of Christians - those with the time and the desire to do something for others.” God gave Catherine the vision to match these two groups of people through intercessory prayer. “It seem[ed] like a big order,” she said. But then God replied, “Are not My dreams always big ones?”

Breakthrough discusses the power of Church intercession. Throughout the world, churches are discovering that they are only as strong as their prayers. This renewed emphasis on prayer has brought exciting things to the Christian community. According to Breakthrough, “large and small, denominational and non-denominational, many congregations are into regular intercession and thereby are discovering the joy of prayer. In this turn toward intercession, churches are emulating first-century Christianity that centered on prayer. When the early church got together and lifted up its voice in agreement the power of God came to them.” “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly” [Acts 4:31].

photo“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles”[Psalm 34:17].

Breakthrough’s Mission Statement is clear. Breakthrough believes that God’s original design for intercessory prayer was so simple and perfect. The ministry has never lost sight of that original plan. Breakthrough wants to hear from you. Pray about becoming one of Breakthrough’s intercessors or send Breakthrough a prayer request. Dear Bro/Sis in Christ,
In the name of Jesus, according to John 16:23, I pray daily that my son Andrew James gets a job in the same company where he works - a job he is qualified for, a job that challenges him and a job he loves and very good at… He is a in call service job - answering phone calls with a Finance Honours degree for almost 3 years. He is 25 - a dedicated Sunday school teacher and a tither. A talent writer and exceptionally good in Calculus and Finance.
Thanks for your prayers!
In Christ,
Mrs. James

Can you please pray that my daughter Brianna will come home? She’s only 18yrs old and has left home and I don’t know where she lives but I believe she’s living with an older man and he has a strong hold on her. Can you also pray that I will find work? Can you also pray that Morris Emanuel III will be delivered from his addictions and that he will leave weak willed women alone and that he will trust and have faith in God? Can you also pray for my family, mother, sisters, brothers, grandmothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and Paris Gordon, Monica Brown, and Morris dad?

I want the Lord to bless me with a job a financial breakthrough a miracle his favor and bless everything the enemy try to turn to evil it’s been hard on my life
