The seeding for the Dulles District basketball tournament did not hold true in a pair of first round games Wednesday night.
Freedom and Park View netted upsets of higher-seeded opponents to punch their tickets to the semifinals. The No. 6 seed Eagles knocked off third-seeded Park View, 66-63 in boys’ action, and the No. 5 seed Patriots slipped past No. 4 Broad Run, 38-35, in the girls’ bracket.
I was in Brambleton to watch Briar Woods’ boys collect their first-ever postseason victory, 72-52 over Loudoun County. Other winners on Wednesday were Broad Run (boys), Loudoun County (girls) and Potomac Falls (girls). Freedom’s girls and Potomac Falls’ boys received first-round byes as the top seeds for the tournament.
