The art of complaining

One thing as an American that I’ve realized is that we’re really good at some things, but in particular, we’re very good at complaining, especially about the weather.

Yes, I get it. It’s raining. The world is obviously over. Of course I fall victim to complaining about the weather, but it always ends up being the summer and how freaking hot it is. I just can’t take it. If it were possible to air condition a small bubble around me, I would. But, I don’t have that kind of technology or the ability to even invent a device that does that.

Now it’s September. Summer is slowing creepin’ out while fall is scooting in behind it. I love fall. It’s my favorite season ever. The past couple years fall has hardly made an appearance and I’m tired of it! Show yourself fall! I demand you to make the leaves slowly collect in sewer drains and all over my car. I want to break out my cardigan sweater and boots - both of which I am wearing today. I mean come on people, who doesn’t love scarfs?

It’s not just about the great fashion that’s available during the autumn season, but what comes after. We’ll always find something to complain about. It will soon get cold and everyone will be wishing it were summer, much like how the opposite was happening when we were sweating through our clothes during the summer months. But, I will try and make it a point not to complain. Better yet, I will embrace it.

Oh will it rain all week? Great! I will go out an purchase really weird looking rain boots and wear them with my all of my outfits. Will I complain about how my hair frizzes out twice it’s size during the humidity that rain produces all week? No, I will find a way to tame the beast and maybe bring headbands back. But, yes I get it. Weather is so unpredictable, but as long as I can physically get to work without running off the road due to bad weather I’m good. I’ve lived another day.

Look at it this way, if your going to spend all your time complaining about something that you in no way have power to change, why bother? Find a different activity. Make introduce a new board game to Parker Brothers, they’re always looking for new and fresh ideas. But, when it comes to the weather, let Mother Nature take care of that one.

Man, I can’t believe it’s still raining outside ... how long will this go on for? Where’s the sun?
