This musical competition provides local middle and high school students an opportunity to showcase their musical talents in a supportive atmosphere. Any student who lives within a 50-mile radius of Community Lutheran Church in Sterling is eligible to compete for cash scholarships to help cover further musical study.

Instrumental, keyboard and voice performers will prepare at least two classical works totaling approximately 10 minutes duration. Each competitor will choose his/her opening performance piece. Instrumentalists and vocalists may be accompanied on piano or organ, but will make their own arrangements for accompanists. Keyboard and vocal entrants will perform from memory and instrumentalists are encouraged but not required to perform from memory.

First and second prizes will be awarded in each vocal, instrumental, and keyboard category.

Community Lutheran is continuing to establish creative avenues to reach out to the youth of our local area. The Concert Series Committee believes this is a way we can extend a welcoming hand to our church youth programs and to students residing in the five county area. Community Lutheran Church is the only church in our area promoting this type of young artist musical competition.

If you would like to come watch the competitors you are welcome to do so. The competition will be open to the general public. Feel free to attend for a while and take in some amazing performances by a group of very talented youth.

Teachers: if you have students who have promise but are not yet ready to compete, encourage them to attend, observe and enjoy the competition.

If you believe this is an event you’d like to see continue at Community Lutheran consider donating to the Concert Series. Without your generous support programming like this is not possible. All it takes is your donation and we can ensure continuous outreach in our community, always seeking to reflect God’s love through beautiful music.

The people of Community Lutheran move forward prayerfully with the promise of Ephesians 3:20-21 in their hearts:

“Now to God who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to God be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
