ANIMAL CARE TECHNCIAN POOL Loudoun County Department of Animal Services, located 10 minutes west of Leesburg near Waterford, VA, is currently accepting qualified applications for a part-time, two-year substitute pool. We are seeking individuals who enjoy working with and caring for animals, are people-oriented, self-motivated, and dedicated to improving the welfare of animals. The successful candidate's primary function will be to help meet the basic health and welfare needs of the various types of animals in residence. These duties include: cleaning of cat cages and dog kennels; feeding and handling animals such as dogs, cats, horses, poultry, and reptiles; administering medications; and assisting adopters and animal owners. The Department boasts numerous innovative programs designed to improve the lives of shelter animals. Employees are provided the opportunity to participate in these innovative efforts. Candidates must be available to work all shifts, including mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Requires High School diploma/GED and at least one year job related experience. Basic knowledge of and experience handling dogs, cats and other companion animals is required. Experience in a kennel or veterinary office is preferred. Must have the ability to control large and potentially dangerous animals over 100 pounds and lift animals weighing up to 75 lbs. Successful candidate will undergo a criminal background check, physical exam, and drug screening. Must possess a valid driver's license.
