Locksmith T18 - $23.86 - $31.02 Starting pay for new hires typically does not exceed the middle of the salary range ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER: MWAA-13-10751 OPENING DATE: 01/07/13 - CLOSING DATE: 01/21/13 LOCATION: Washington Dulles International Airport Engineering and Maintenance Department Structures and Grounds Division, MA-222 AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Authority Employees and Outside Candidates DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Inspects, repairs, installs and maintains lock hardware, keying systems and related mechanisms in keeping with security, fire and safety regulations. Repairs doors, frames and door hardware; operates computer to maintain key controlling system and prepare bills for locksmith services to tenants. Designs and develops new security key control systems, coordinating with Airports Authority departments and managers to create a new system needed for expansion of the airport and tighter security measures. Frequently moves items weighing up to 45 pounds; occasionally moves heavy metal doors weighing up to 200 pounds. Subject to hold over and recall on a 24 hour basis for essential services and emergencies such as locks and snow removal. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate will have four years of experience inspecting, repairing, installing and maintaining lock hardware, keying systems and> related mechanisms in keeping with security, fire and safety regulations. In addition, experience repairing doors, frames and door hardware is required. The ability to operate a computer to maintain the key controlling system and prepare bills for locksmith services is essential. Candidates must have a valid State driver's license, and be able to obtain a CDL, Class B, and an AOA (Air Operation Area) license within 90 days of hire. PREFERRED QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of Best Locking Systems is preferred. Knowledge of FAA, fire and safety regulations to inspect installation of locks by contractor, assure that airport locking devices and related mechanisms meet requirements, protect master keys from unauthorized access and assure proper authorization of key issue requests is also preferred.
