A Fundraiser for Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department (AVRD)
Not Your Average Joes Restaurant in Lansdowne Town Center will donate 15 percent of their customer’s bill excluding alcohol every Tuesday in August to the AVRD. To qualify for the 15 percent you can obtain a certificate from Fire Station 22 in Lansdowne at any time. As a spokesperson for AVRD says, “The money raised will be used to maintain and fuel our fleet of vehicles. We only get 56 percent of our annual operating costs from the County, the remaining comes from fund raising efforts large and small.” This is one of a series of fund raising events.
The AVRD has been in existence since 1944 and has approximately 200 active members. Station 22 serves the community of Lansdowne. “We are neighbors, friends and co-workers, men and women; married and single.” They are volunteers who deal with medical emergencies, car accidents, and house fires.
