Holiday Decorations Galore
It appears that each year the holiday and Christmas decorations become more elaborate than the year before and have been expanded from inside the house to outside. Sometime in mid August the planning must start and once the Halloween paraphernalia is taken down and there’s a momentary detour for Thanksgiving the green, red, blue and white lights begin to show up with creative and decorative energy.
Based on extensive research the practice of decorating this time of year began in Roman times that predated Christmas. Since then it has been adopted by Christmas and the holiday season and the discovery by Ben Franklyn contributed to the aesthetics. Santa Claus made his debut and now in many cases has been integrated into the decorative schemes you see these days.
Despite the drain on the electric grid and higher than normal utility bills many lawns in River Creek and Lansdowne are filled with glittering lights, grazing reindeer, an angel or two, candy canes, igloos, sleighs and Santa, of course. It’s well worth it to drive around the neighborhoods and enjoy the festival of lights and to immerse yourself in the holiday season.
