A Life Saving 911 Call
On Monday, June 6th, 12 year old sixth grader, Lillian (Lillie) Jackson at Belmont Ridge Middle School in Lansdowne was honored with an award from the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department for her alert action in saving her stepmother, Laura Jackson’s life.
The ceremony had been kept secret from Lillie as a surprise. When she showed up at the intra-school TV studio she looked puzzled and asked, “What am I doing here.” Her parents laughed and replied, “We’ve decided to sell you.”
It happened in April of this year in the Jackson home and as Laura describes, “I passed out at the top of the stairs, then passed out again.” She fell and hit her head on the floor and had stopped breathing. Her Great Dane dog, Savannah, saw what had happened and went to get Lillie who came and turned her stepmother over, started her breathing again then called 911.
Lillie said, “I’m just glad that she’s alive.”
Savannah, the Great Dane, also received a well deserved award for her part in saving Laura’s life.
