Thanks for serving: Potomac Falls Express Lube & Car Wash provides a free car wash to all veterans and active military personnel on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11. The event takes place from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., rain or shine, at the car care facility located in front of the Regal Cinema. CountrySide and Regal Center businesses such as Domino’s, Safeway and Starbucks are providing refreshments. Be sure to tell your military friends and family members to stop by for a little “thank you” for their valiant efforts on our country’s behalf.

We are all artists: Trent Carbaugh and Darcy Swope, artist-teachers from the Birds of a Feather Studio and School in Purcellville discuss their collaborative work and teaching on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. at the Cascades Library in Potomac Falls. The duo’s unique approach to art education places self-expression and joy above mastery of technique. Swope is an artist and art educator-therapist with 31 years of teaching experience in schools, hospitals, community centers and colleges. Carbaugh has been involved in education programs for 25 years. The two offer art education programs to groups of all sizes, from small intergenerational classes to creativity-based corporate workshops for more than 100 participants. Their artwork will be on exhibit at the library through Dec. 30.

Farmers market dates:There are two more Sundays this year to enjoy the Cascades Farmers Market, located in the parking lot of the Senior Center at Cascades Marketplace from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. After Nov. 20, you’ll have to travel about nine miles west to the Leesburg Winter Farmers Market, which will offer a holiday craft section in November and December.

Lost and found: A wedding ring was found recently at a Cascades gym. To be reunited with the ring, call 703-406-0820, ext. 104, and be prepared to provide descriptive information.

A reminder: The 13th annual America Recycles Day takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 15. What are you recycling?
