Step Sisters’ Scramble - On Course to Fight Breast Cancer
    photo

By Angela Fuentes, Step Sisters Team Captain

Are you Tee’d off about breast cancer?  So are we!  So please join us on the golf course for the first annual Step Sisters’ Scramble charity golf tournament and help us raise money to find a cure.  The festivities tee off at Bristow Manor Golf Course on Friday, October 12th at 9am and include green and cart rental fees, unlimited beverages, a post-tournament buffet and fabulous giveaways and prizes. A premiere Northern Virginia golf course, Bristow Manor features four sets of tees, water on 12 holes and over 7,000 yards of immaculate zoysia fairways, natural grass areas, bent grass greens and tees. Your partially tax-deductible registration fee will benefit breast cancer awareness and research.  To register, visit http://www.active.com/golf-tournament/bristow-va/step-sisters-scramble—-on-course-to-fight-breast-cancer-2012  Earl.y registration ends on September 15th, so don’t delay!

Not a golfer?  There are other ways to support the Step Sisters’ Scramble.  We are looking for various levels of sponsorships to make this event a huge success.  One sponsorship level is to sponsor a hole.  This is a great way to donate as an individual, family or even as a group of neighbors (“this hole is sponsored by Legacy Park Drive neighbors”, for example).  Maybe you would like to sponsor a hole in honor, memory or support of someone.  Whatever your sponsorship interest, from prize donations to title sponsor, we have various levels to meet your needs.  If interested in learning more, please contact Angela at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or go to http://www.stepsisters.org and click on “golf tournament” to fill out a sponsorship interest form.

The Step Sisters is a non-profit, 501c3 organization started by a group of local women and men, mostly from Brambleton, who joined together to support friends, neighbors and family who were diagnosed with breast cancer.  Many of us, like myself, are survivors and fight for a cure so no one else has to experience the same diagnosis.  One in 8 women has a chance of developing breast cancer in her lifetime.  This staggering statistic is one we’d like to change.  Every year we participate in the Avon 2-Day Walk and, in the spring, we hold our Brambleton Ribbon Run 10K/5K right here in the community.  This October will mark the inaugural year of the Step Sisters’ Scramble.  Over the past 5 years we have raised over $500K for this important cause, but we won’t stop until a cure is found.

We appreciate your continued support and thank you in advance for taking steps with us to achieve our ambitious goal of ending breast cancer. See you on the greens!
