Leesburg Executive Airport will host its annual airshow Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event will also include a car show.

The show will feature ground and aerial displays. It will kickoff with a military formation flyover by several vintage “warbirds,” according to airport officials.

The Commemorative Air Force is coordinating the flyover, which will include North American T-6 “Texans” and North American T-28 “Trojans.” The United States Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force used these aircraft extensively to train pilots from World War II through the 1980s.

Ground displays will be available for view during the entire show and include military aircraft, civilian airplanes, experimental flyers and classic cars.

There will also be food and beverage vendors on hand as well as adventure flights for purchase.

At 11 a.m., there will be live radio controlled airplane demonstrations followed by an RC flyer club demonstration at noon and low-level helicopter acts at 12:30 p.m.

The main aerial portion of the show will begin at 1 p.m. and include skydivers, stunt planes, acrobatics and wing walkers.

Nationally acclaimed air-show announcer Danny Clisham will narrate the show.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on and enjoy the aerial portion of the show.

In addition to the airshow activities, sponsor Raytheon will host a MathMovesU exhibit. At this interactive display, students and parents can participate in fun, hands-on activities while learning more about the importance of science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, education.

“Raytheon believes tomorrow’s engineers and technologists need to be excited by and interested in math today,” said spokesman Keith Strubhar. “With science and technology a vital driver of the global economy, Raytheon’s math and science education program not only encourages and supports countless students, but also supports our nation’s ongoing role as an economic leader.”

Leesburg Executive Airport is at 1000 Sycolin Road.
