Sometimes you just need to get out of the office and your regular stomping grounds for lunch. With that in mind, I convened a working lunch last week at Hooked in Sterling.
Although seafood isn’t my typical go-to for lunch, Hooked has never steered me wrong. Founded in 2007, their modern setting and fresh innovative cuisine has helped them develop a strong following in the area. They are consistently awarded “Best Seafood” by OpenTable and have received several mentions among other regional publications.
But then again, when you’re sitting down for a meal, the only thing that matters is what’s sitting on your plate.
I’ll likely have arguments on this point, but my favorite seafood always comes on the appetizer plate. And Hooked continually succeeds here with the tempura calamari and the crispy spicy shrimp. They’re enough of a reason to visit on their own.
When in doubt, go with the house specialty. That was my thought ordering the crab cake platter. Even so, I simply wasn’t expecting the tender and succulent 4 ounce crab cake I received. Served with dirty fries and a grilled asparagus, it’s more than enough to get you through the day.
Hooked continues to be a swanky spot for dinner locally, but if you can, be certain to try them out for lunch as well.
