    Ledo Pizza

A regional chain based in Adelphi, Md., Ledo Pizza was established in 1955. Their rectangular pizza remains their calling card, although the chain is quick to point out that circular pans were new when the restaurant was founded.

Ledo remains a comfortable place for families to stop by, particularly given the portions. You might think that the 18 inch is just a regular large, but it will almost certainly be enough to feed your small army.

The rectangular pizzas may seem like an oddity, but you’ll likely be taken in by the homemade taste and thick toppings. The tomato sauce is slightly sweeter than the norm, but it plays to the taste of most of those I’ve traveled with.

If you need something to eat the moment you sit down, try out the baked cheese fries – criss-cut with provolone, bacon and cheddar.

And if there are some non pizza-lovers in your party, Ledo also offers a modest selection of other Italian standards and an impressive selection of hearty salads and sandwiches.
