    Delgaudio an embarrassment

I want to applaud you for your continued coverage of Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio. The voters of Loudoun County deserve your reporting on him and I urge you to keep it up. As you pointed out, the Southern Poverty Law Center, an internationally recognized Civil Rights Group that tracks and exposes the activities of hate groups, recently confirmed that Mr. Delgaudio’s Public Advocate of the United States is a group dedicated to hate and bigotry.

It is beyond comprehension that Mr. Delgaudio uses his public role as a Loudoun County Supervisor for furthering his staunchly anti-gay agenda. The Loudoun County Democratic Party has even called for Mr. Delgaudio’s resignation. But, this goes beyond partisan politics; this is a question about serving the citizens of Loudoun County with dignity and respect for everyone. That should be a mandatory requirement for anyone holding public office.

Supporters of Mr. Delgaudio have defended him by unjustly attacking your newspaper and by criticizing the exemplary work of the Southern Poverty Law Center.

None of Mr. Delgaudio’s recent musings about President Obama and gay marriage, the Gasparilla Pirate Fest in Tampa, Florida or his suspicion that TSA patdowns at the airport are really a homosexual agenda have anything at all to with the public works of a county supervisor. Yet Delgaudio not only uses that position to spread his dangerous hatred, but he profits financially from it as well.

My family and I are proud to live in Loudoun County and recognize divergent points of view, but this man is an embarrassment to us all.

    Please continue your good coverage.

Delgaudio is small fish. Ask Congressman Wolf, our so-called “human-rights” advocate where he stands.
