    Don’t slash Medicare

I’m having a lot of difficulty understanding Mitt Romney’s and the Republican’s plan for America, a plan that removes the safety net for the neediest Americans and rewards the wealthy.

In supporting the Ryan Budget, Romney will privatize Medicare by giving seniors vouchers to buy health insurance. But the voucher amount won’t be enough; seniors will have to pay up to $6,400 a year more to get the Medicare coverage they are now receiving from the government. I know my senior friends and relatives can’t afford that.

And Mr. Romney’s major cuts to Medicaid are unconscionable. A record number of folks are in serious financial distress. Now is not the time to once more ambush the poor and middle class. They have already suffered enough.

I know that my friends who are working and getting assistance from the government are not just “lying around in a hammock” like Paul Ryan said. They are out working, or looking for extra jobs, trying to stretch what little money they have.

So, here are some facts. In 2010, the average Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program payment to a Virginia family was $389 and the average Virginia Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program payment was $128.63. That’s hardly a windfall that allows a family to swing in their hammocks.

But, while Mitt Romney is slashing Medicaid and putting more pain on the poor, his plan for the wealthiest Americans is to cut their taxes even more—a tax cut that gives an average of $250,000 to millionaires in this country.

We are Americans. We are compassionate. We pull together in hard times. The Romney and Republican plan to take from the poor and middle class and reward the rich is wrong and unseemly. We can do better.

Sometimes people put their head in the sand and just vote for their party no matter how bad they are. It’s great being independent and stating both parties are horrible. We currently have a president blaming others for not getting things done(3+ years into his presidency). So, is he going to whine and put his foot down this time when other don’t agree with him? Did he all of sudden grow a pair? It’s very scary to read how brainwashed people are when it comes to politics. I grew up a republican and dislike the far right. I tried several times to be a democrat but don’t agree with all they stand for. And if someone in office doesn’t do a good job(especially our so-called leader), I’m willing to give someone else a chance. Perhaps if Obama played less golf(over 100 rounds), set his priorities straight(economy and jobs, not health care), and worked for everyone(not just the middle class). I’m tired of same old thing in politics coming from DC, so voted for him. He was no different and still part of the problem.

Obama did “cuts” to Medicare, but he hit the administration costs that were milking the system.  Nothing he cut affected patients or doctors.  Its part of that “clean up the waste and corruption” that both parties admit is there in Medicare, costing taxpayers millions.  But you would have to watch something other than Faux Nooz to hear that.

Judy, what the @#$# are you talking about?

There’s only one Presidential candidate in 2012 who has cut Medicare: Barack Obama, whose Affordable Care Act cuts Medicare by $716 billion from 2013-2022. That’s a cold-hearted fact.  Please look it up.

The Romney campaign reiterated its pledge to repeal Obamacare, and promised to “restore the funding to Medicare [and] ensure that no changes are made to the program for those 55 and older.”

If you care about Medicare, vote for Romney.  Obama is decimating that program.
