Playing politics with our safety

Frank Wolf is playing politics with our safety. He participated in a campaign event last year in Loudoun that was styled a Gang Violence Seminar, but only members of his own Republican party were invited, and no one notified the board of supervisors.

More recently, he organized a Lyme Disease Forum at Heritage High. Who did he invite to speak as elected officials? Again, only Republicans. Again, the Loudoun board was not informed.

Violence and disease are not political stepping stones. They are threats to the people of Loudoun and it is the duty of all of us elected to serve them to put politics aside and work together to eliminate those threats.

Republicans, Independents, and Democrats have repeatedly worked together and ignored politics on the Loudoun board. Members of all political stripes joined to celebrate the opening of the new Sterling sheriff’s substation and our Democratic majority happily shared the event with Republican legislators.

If we can do it here at the humble level of the county board, a 30-year member of congress ought to be able to do it too. I call upon Mr. Wolf to follow our lead and stop using public health and safety for partisan gains.

Stevens Miller

Dulles District Supervisor

Comments

ummm.. alittle touchy are we Supervisor Miller? Are you glad that you are not up for re-election this year?  Poor you.

Mr. Miller - this is a cut/paste of the letter you submitted to Leesburg Today on July 27th. Serious? This is how you get your points out? I hope one of your staffers is responsible for this canvassing of your arguments against a political foe. I’m continually disappointed by your tactics. Sometimes you make some really good points and statements, esp. in opposition of something Eugene says, but you politik just as bad as he does. Unfortunately, just another political hack.
