America’s 9/11 Foundation is holding its annual commemorative motorcycle ride today in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The route through Leesburg will be down King Street, then onto the Route 7/15 Bypass and east to the Dulles Greenway.
King Street from the northern town limits to the Route 7/15 Bypass will be closed to traffic starting at 2 p.m. All King Street intersections will be closed to east-west cross traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian. Road closures are expect to last 20 to 25 minutes.
There will be no on-street parking on King, Market and Loudoun streets throughout the town beginning today at 8 a.m. Any vehicles parked on those roads after that time may be towed at the owners’ expense.

According to the Town of Leesburg, spectators who wish to watch and cheer as the ride passes through the downtown are encouraged to arrive in downtown Leesburg not later than 1:30 p.m.
Parking will be available in the Town Hall Parking Garage; the Liberty Street Parking Lot at Liberty and Royal streets; and the Pennington Parking Lot at Church and North streets.
For safety reasons, the town says, spectators will not be allowed to hand any items, such as bottled water, flags or flowers, to the motorcycle riders.
Spectators will not be able to cross King Street on foot until after the procession has passed.
This could be the beginnings of a Rolling Thunder like yearly event for the county.
