Electric car charging stations
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved a fee policy for electric vehicle charging stations in Hamilton on July 6. The charging station, which will be located at the new Harmony Park and Ride facility at Scott Jenkins Memorial Park in Hamilton, will have five charging stations and will be the first charging stations in the area available to the public. During the first year of operation, the use of the station will be provided to the public for a fee of $1.44 per session. The fee is based on the average cost of electricity for a single full battery charge. The board will re-evaluate the program next year to determine the usage rate and maintenance cost of sessions. The purchase of the charging stations is part of the federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program. The county is also installing 24 energy-efficient LED light fixtures with solar arrays at the Harmony Park and Ride lot. For more information about the county’s energy programs go to loudoun.gov/energy.
