The National Home Furnishings Association has named Belfort Furniture in Dulles as Retailer of the Year for 2012.
The NHFA awards this prestigious honor in recognition of outstanding contributions to the home furnishings industry, exemplary service to the community and personal and business achievements.
The award is the highest honor that the 93-year-old trade association can give to a member.
Belfort has also been named “The Best Furniture Store in Northern Virginia” and “The Best Furniture Store in Loudoun County” for 17 consecutive years.
Belfort opened in 1987 in a small space, but under the leadership of founder and CEO Mike Huber, the store has grown into a large campus, encompassing five distinct stand-alone furniture retail environments and consisting of 100,000 square feet of retail space.
Belfort continued to improve in 2006 with the addition of an 83,000- square-foot high-tech warehouse to create better customer service and more efficient delivery. All Belfort staff, who are equipped with iPads, can check inventory and see other important data.
While customer service has been a staple of Belfort, Huber has also focused on making contributions to the community.
As an annual corporate sponsor for the YMCA Loudoun County Charity Golf Tournament since 2005, Belfort has raised more than $300,000 to provide quality after school care and camp opportunities for children.
The Belfort team also raised more than $25,000 for the Walk for Hope, Women’s Cancers, Women’s Cures and donated $50,000 to the cause after Huber matched the $25,000.
The Retailer of the Year 2012 Award will be presented at 6 p.m. April 23 during the Spring High Point Market Furniture Industry Awards Gala in the International Home Furnishings Center Ballroom.
Belfort is a sponsor the the annual Times-Mirror “Future Leaders” Scholarship, a Loudoun fund established to benefit the county’s best and brightest high school seniors.
Great story about a great retailer that gives back to the community.
@Alex: Probably because you used too many commas.
You got to be kidding,I had cash in my pocket,the salesman,ignore me,when I asked for a discount.He gave me a stuffy goodbye,walked out,bought elswhere.This article is a joke.
Having worked in the furniture business for a few decades, I’ve watched Mike and his team grow Belfort Furniture into an impressive operation in a time frame when a lot of other major retailers around the country went in the opposite direction. Great to see them get some national recognition!
