Tired of those gas prices going up? Well, Loudoun County is participating in Bike to Work Day May 20. The event includes 49 pit stops across the Washington metropolitan area, where participants can pick-up free t-shirts, enjoy refreshments and enter to win prizes.

The Loudoun pit stops will be located along the W&OD Trail at Raflo Park in Leesburg and in Sterling at the trail entrance near Orbital Sciences Corporation, just east of Route 28. The Raflo Park pit stop will operate from 6 to 9 a.m. and the Sterling pit stop will operate from 6:30 to 9 a.m.

To register for this event, go to waba.org or call 202-518-0524. Bike to Work Day is coordinated by the Washington Area Bicyclist Association and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.

For more information, visit loudoun.gov/biketowork or call the Loudoun County Office of Transportation at 703-737-8044.

Comments

I used to ride to work about 80% of the time between 2002 - 2005. Loved it. Now I work at home, but may go for a ride this Friday in the morning to share the love. Should be fun.

I love bike to work day. Too bad I am not going to do it this year, the first in the last 6. My office moved and we don’t have shower facilities at the new location.

Riding to work was great since I got to do what I wanted to do for an hour each way vs. sitting in traffic for 45-70 minutes each way every day. Not to mention the fresh air, sunshine, and sights along the trails. It was about break even on the gas vs increase in groceries that I had to eat.
