Bob Zoldos announces candidacy for Lovettsville mayor

Lovettsville resident Bob Zoldos announced his candidacy for Lovettsville mayor Feb. 6 after current Mayor Elaine Walker announced Jan. 26 she will not being running for re-election.

“I am humbled by the dozens of community members who have urged me to run for mayor now that Mayor Elaine Walker has announced her retirement,” Zoldos said in a statement. “While I don’t covet the title of mayor, I feel the same need that many of you have expressed during the past 11 days, that we must keep politics out of our Lovettsville and keep the ‘love’ in it.  As mayor, I will do my best to meet your expectations and keep our town a wonderful and neighborly place in which to live and to own a business.”

Zoldos will be holding a kick-off party on Feb. 13 at Lovettsville Pizza and Subs where he will be joined by several people who have offered to serve on Lovettsville Town Council. Zoldos believes people should be elected that are leaders who have led well, workers who have worked hard and public servants who have served honorably.

Zoldos and his wife have lived in Lovettsville for 14 years and his campaign will focus on keeping the town friendly, caring and a hard working place that all residents want it to live.

Zoldos also said that anyone who wishes to attend the event should wear red.

Comments

Bobby Zoldos voted to take hundreds of dollars away from each and every houshold in Lovettsville and give it to the Mayor and her (and his) cronies.  These people are constantly doing a number on Lovettsville and then laugh about it among themselves in all their closed town council sessions.  Zoldos may seem like a nice guy, but nice guys don’t rob money from nice people.

I’ve lived in the Town of Lovettsville for more than a decade and don’t think that a newcomer like Tim Sparbanie really has a clue as to what it takes to govern a small town or even interact with people.  During Oktoberfest he made a speech in the big tent praising himself for doing such a good job as the chair of the Oktoberfest Committee but never thanked the hard working committee members. Now that’s a good way to alienate part of the Town. I can’t vote for Mr. Sparbanie who’s declared bankruptcy twice and thinks he’s better than everyone else. I want a Mayor who isn’t afraid of hard work.  Mr. Zoldos is well-respected in the Town as well as throughout Loudoun County.  He has my vote!

I hope Tim Sparbanie wins this one.  Nothing against Mr. Zoldos, but we need some young energy of a family man and teacher like Mr. Sparbanie brings to the table.

Elaine Walker should be hung in effigy in the “Town Center”! She made Lovettsville the ugliest town in Loudoun. The only uglier town in the region is Brunswick. The whole town should be bulldozed and started over but this time without the likes of Ryan Homes and other econobox home builders…

Small town minded people make me laugh! Get out and see the world then come back and learn to appreciate what you have. Parents teach your children manners when in public!

@Lost in Lovettsville & Squircle Sucks - If you just practice your left hand turns more you might be able to navigate it a little better.  I’d hate to see either of you in a “Roundabout.”

“No” to the historic district.  It will (and its intent is) to bankrupt us.  When we can’t afford the copper roof, forced upon us by the soon appointed architectural review board (provided for under VA law), our homes are bought for pennies on the dollar by the folks proposing this idea.  One of the guys behind the comprehensive plan (including the historic district)is a convicted LaRouche crook, that already served plenty of jail time.

I’d also like to know where Mr. Zoldos stands on the squarcle.  This would determine my vote.  Please tell us.  Thank you!

Unfortunately that is all in VDOT’s hands, not the town’s.  We could have had an easy to navigate large circle, but the town just had to have a “town square”.  It couldn’t be a round public space for God’s sakes, it had to be square!  Add in all the stop signs and you get a mess instead of what should have been an easy transit through town.

Mr. Zoldos.  What is your position on the squarcle?  Does it stay or will you rip it up and end the nightmare that is navigating through Lovettsville

Hopefully Zoldos hasn’t filed for bankruptcy.
