Chapman selects new leadership team

Adhering to the old adage “out with the old, and in with the new,” Chapman is bringing on a new executive leadership team.

The change, announced just days before Chapman takes over office for the new year, switched up seven jobs at the top and will bring in an array of fresh faces.

“As I promised the citizens of this county during my campaign, our office will ‘step up’ to move Loudoun County forward in law enforcement,” Chapman said. “We will improve service, technology, efficiency and professionalism.  Although our agenda is ambitious, I am confident, working together, that we will deliver better service to our citizens and improve working conditions for our deputies and civilian staff.”

Chapman believes this new team will be able to step right into their roles on Day 1.

“I am excited to welcome this team of outstanding individuals to senior leadership at our Sheriff’s Office,” Chapman said.  “They bring enormous talent, skills, and accomplishments to our organization.  I know that our Office will be stronger, run more efficiently, and that our community will be safer as a result of their combined law enforcement and leadership abilities.”

Lieutenant Colonel and Deputy Chief Chistopher Harmison has more than 32 years in local law enforcement with the Fairfax County Police Department and Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Harmison worked for the Sheriff’s Office until 2003 when he unsuccessfully ran for sheriff.

Operations Division Major Robert Buckman will continue to lead his division. Buckman is a 29-year law enforcement veteran and has held the position since 2003.

Criminal Investigations Division Major Richard Fiano is a 35-year veteran of law enforcement and is currently a private sector expert with Northrop Grumman. He worked for the DEA, directing all domestic and foreign operations in the U.S. and was responsible for more than 4,500 criminal investigators throughout the world. Additionally, Fiano directed a $300 million budget as chairman of the DEA’s Executive Planning Committee. Finally, Fiano, who has overseen operations throughout the world, served field positions in Miami and New York.

Special Operations Division Major John Fraga retired from the FBI after 24 years as a special agent. Fraga oversaw 2,000 special agents and support personnel from his senior executive position, and was responsible for coordinating the FBI’s response to weapons of mass destruction.

Administrative Division Major Eric Noble was promoted into the spot after 24-years with the Sheriff’s Office. He recently served as the Western Loudoun Commander and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Corrections Major Richard Frye was also promoted, after 25 years in law enforcement serving with the Sheriff’s Office and the Leesburg Police Department. He currently serves as Station Commander at the Eastern Loudoun Station in Sterling. Frye also graduated the FBI National Academy.

“I am confident that Major Frye’s leadership will facilitate the rapid re-opening of all phases of our correction facility,” Chapman said.

Liz Mills, who served in the Chapman for Sheriff campaign, will take over as Director of Media Relations and Communications. Mills has spent more than 15 years in media relations in the government, non-profit and private industry as a spokesperson and speechwriter. Mills began her career as a reporter in New York City and is currently the Republican Chairperson for the Catoctin District in Loudoun County.

“The Sheriff’s Office has the critical mission of keeping our county safe and providing exceptional law enforcement,” Chapman said. “Over the years, many dedicated men and women have worked at the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and have played a leadership role in law enforcement. I’m delighted to continue that tradition and add to the success with the new staff appointments.”

Check back to loudountimes.com later this week for more information on incoming and outgoing members of the Sheriff’s Office.

Comments

Those of you that are sending in these comments PLEASE - PLEASE DON’T STOP. I have stopped reading the comics in the morning and just read these. I get a much better laugh. AND TO ALL PLEASE DRINK MORE 9 IRON!!!

The Chapman folks keep naming people they suspect are behind these comments because their mindset is to keep sticking the knife deeper. They are STILL complaining, loudly and publicly, about people that didn’t support Chapman 100% of the time. It doesn’t matter if you are young, old, in law enforcement or out…...they will consider you an enemy unless you kiss the ring of the new Sheriff and his princess.

As a former nurse in LCADC intake, I must commend
all of the either low-ranking Deputies and the new recruits. They were always ready to tackle everything at a moments notice and the back-up was
phenominal to achieve a positive outcome for not
only the inmates but the “Brown”. I had heard on many occasions that 6 out of ten new recruits leave the LCADC jail within the first year. The
County lost many a valuable Deputy.
I don’t have much good to say about the brass at
LCADC though.

Where did Badura write a letter about this being unfair?

As someone who retired from the Sheriff’s Office, I can tell you change was needed a LONG time ago—probably after Mr. Simpson’s very first term.  Then things would not have gotten out of control as they did.

I have been reading most of the post and some are good and some not so good. There are lots of subjects that are being touched on except ONE! No one and I mean no one has asked why didn’t Mr. Simpson and his staff or cronies as most said, I prefer “staff” see this coming. I have lived in this county for a number of years and I have ssen a few elections. It seems to me that Mr. Chapman did the same thing to Mr. Simpson as Simpson did to Mr. Isom. Example - the mailings The Good The Bad and The Ugly. Simpson did something similar to Isom just before the election. Now, in the past couple of elections that Mr. Simpson has been in he has not won by any large margin at all. In fact in these last couple of election there were some rank and file deputies that supported those running against Mr. Simpson. DIDN’T MR. SIMPSON SEE THIS AND DIDN’T HIS STAFF SEE THIS. If they did, didn’t anyone think that just maybe something was wrong and maybe he / they needed to change some of the things they were or were not doing. I GUESS NOT. In this last election against Mr. Chapman I observed several currently working deputies openly supporting Mr.Chapman and I mean openly supporting Chapman. JPutting their jobs on the line. I can only assume that they flet there needed to be a change for what ever reason. Early on in the election process shouldn’t Mr. Simpsons staff or some advised him, made suggestions, reflected back on the last two elections and the slim margins that he won by. AGAIN I GUESS NOT or if they did Mr. Simpson did not heed the suggestions. Maybe they were afraid he would not talke the suggestion well and they would lsugffer some consequence?? So I would think that one lwould have too ask WHY. WHY didn’t anyone see this coming. Maybe they didn’t care, maybe they were so sure of themselves and the comfortable spaces they had been in that they felt they were untouchable. We will never know that answer. So the election took place, Mr. Simpson lost and Mr. Chapman has replaced the upper staff for the most part according to the papers and other media. Those that have been replaced are now complaining. to little to late, why did’t they complain or listen to the rank and file before the elections and see the apparent signs. When you have deputies putting their jobs on the line that to me is a loud out cry for change or help and it appears that the help they were looking for was change. Those that have been replaced knew that their jobs were secure for only 4 years at a time. Maybe they should have been more mindful of that fact. COMPLACENCY or COMPLACENT - Webester says OVERCONTENTED. If you job is only secure for 4 years at a time one should never become complacent and they did. Shame on them. So now they cry, whine and loudly complain or cry foul. they are partly to blame. Maybe Mr. Simpson did not fight for them hard enough by doing more to win the election. I don’t know but I am told that there was a lot fo work done on golf tournaments and other events unrelated to the sheriff’s office. It is over and done and the whole thing should be used by those replaced as a learning experience - seriously learn from this and never become complacent. Mr. Badura just had an article in the LTM today (1-4-12) about how unfair this has been to him. I wonder if he thought about that say 4 or 5 months ago and did he ever give thought and plan for this type of thing to happen knowing his job was only secure for 4 years at a time. The answer is NO again complacent to snug. I have been told by various persons that these guys came and went as they pleased - now they can even more. Enough is enough. Lets move on and learn from this and pray that it does not happen again “complancey” Sincerely Eidolon

To ? you can’t name the person running the department because if you use that person’s name they take your comments down. Sad but true. You’ll figure it out, hopefully sooner rather than later.

So funny…

The last command never listened to Deputies, never cared and joked about the Deputies and how they “disciplined” their own..

Promotions were won based on how many Deputies certain people could write-up. To the old command, that was leadership..

Now those same command staff that screwed so many people over are crying about getting some of their own meds…

Stop your crying, you never listened to ours…

Who is running it smarty pants?

SHUT YOUR TRAP, I think you know who performed the supposed interviews. It wasn’t Harmison or Chapman and you know it. Word is out on who is running the department and it is a joke. And telling people to shut their traps is not exactly a “listening tour” mentality. No wonder you support the new second in command Chapman.

Chapman relieved 11 out of 710 employes…. that’s it, that’s all….

What else was he suppoed to do with corrupt cops who abused thier power, violated the law and where flat out lazy do nothings.

You guys have no idea how bad the “11” were….

Things are good, a learning curve will be needed for sure, but I have faith.

Most of these comments are from deputies and their families.  Chapman and Harmison interviewed most of the deputies and got lots of input on who needed to go.  A majority of the voters listened to their friends in LCSO and voted Simpson OUT.  Too bad this couldn’t have happened years ago, the department is in very high spirits right now, the citizens will notice the difference.  Someone got it right below, if those let go are so wonderful they will have no problems getting new jobs.

Every comment about whining is a certain blogger that is an expert at whining, particularly when it comes to anything related to Chapman.

I supported Chapman during the campaign. I had family members vote for him. I like many others on this forum am a long time cop and I feel as if I made a big mistake. He has the right to fire whomever he chooses. But, he should have looked each and every person in the eye and told them why. Also, bringing back the former motorman as a 1st Lt. Is a political favor. There have to have been officers on a promotional list who deserve to get promoted over that guy.  The new sheriff is certainly starting off on the wrong foot. Unfortunately we will go through this again in four years. I think this guy is one and done. I wil not support him again. I
truly hope he treats the hard working deputies with respect. They deserve it.

wow…how about waiting to judge? He has not even really begun yet.

The expectation will be to either worship at the alter of the new Sheriff or take a hike. Good luck Deputies, you will need it.

since when are highly trained and professional DEA and FBI agents not law enforcement?  more whining from the do nothings

When Simpson took over from Isom he NEVER put ANYONE out of a job. Maybe a demotion but they still had a job. Chapman however wiping out such experience of public service without even SPEAKING to them or giving them promised interviews and looking over resumes… You have no idea what you’re talking about “whiners continue to whine”. Let’s get you a new boss, have him not tell you a word, talk to people who don’t like you, make an assumption about you after you dedicated your LIFE to public service, and have your new boss send you a copy and paste letter of “you don’t have a job anymore you were appointed and don’t have a job as of 3 days from now”. See how you like it. Don’t comment on things you know nothing about. It’s idiots like you that voted in this guy, or didn’t vote at all, and look how strong he’s started off. You get what you asked for, which is a sheriff with NO law enforcement background who brought in his buddies from the FBI who were all retired mind you and none of THEM are law enforcement either… And it’s already off to a bad start. Oh and after one term he can retire on full benefits for life on YOUR tax dollars. Remember, you asked for him. =)

I hope that there’s a crackdown in Lovettsville in regards to people “blowing through” the stop signs there. In one specific neighborhood where this occurs, there are many children who bike and walk through this 3-way, and I fear that with these idiots who do what they da** well please, there will be a fatality or a crash. Best wishes for the new year.

And what did your hero Simpson do when he took over from Isom?  The same thing.  This happens in every county at every change over.  Quit your whining and go get a job.  If they’re so great they will be picked up real quick.

I voted for Chapman but what he has done is sickening.  It’s as if there is no humanity in the man or his administration.  It is absolutely unconscionable to summarily dismiss middle-aged men and women who have dedicated themselves to public service whose worst offense would be that of mediocrity or comfort in a job.  A real leader could find value in those years and experience and show what could be done with real motivation and direction.  Instead, we are witness to public executions and embarrassment - neither of which is necessary to achieve STEP objectives.  We need look no further than the politically inspired placement of a certain First Lieutenant, whose law enforcement experiencet is limited to a view from a motorcycle, to know we have elected a sheriff whose own ethics and integrity is in question on the first day of work.  We needed a change but we’re off to a distressing start.

Can the public now get a look at the mileage and use logs for some of the top brass’s county vehicles?  Where have they been going in those things - maybe down to Florida to sell sports drinks?  Any Nine Iron stains in the trunks?

Hopefully some of the cold cold cases connected to powerful people who are friends with the right people will get opened up again as well.  I would start with the Middleburg Training Center murder.

I have worked for LCSO for 6 years and am confused at “new years prediction” and “crooked olds” posts. We all know that there is a small group of disgruntled deputies (BC and SD) being the leaders that hate been held accountable and have decided to manipulate these blogs. Who is getting handcuffed and why? If this is so huge, why haven’t we heard about it sooner.  Change is good but the ones that got terminated didn’t deserve the treatment they got. Your posts make us all look like fools. Remember, it’s the crooked old guys that gave you a job so they can’t be that bad, right?

The corrupt good ole boys are still upset that they won’t be able to sit on their rears in the office anymore, and their buddies on the outside who they provided protection to are shaking in their boots.  There’s plenty of good straight up law enforcement experience in this new group.  Hopefully some of the real crooks end up in cuffs soon.  That’s why they’re already out trying to trash LCSO already.  Hire some good lawyers, scumbags.

Wife of Deputy, if you knew the people on the Chapman campaign and now in leadership you would understand that they celebrate ruining reputations and belittling the good work of hardworking deputies. Not once in six months of campaigning did anyone hear of one thing the department was doing right, it was a total trashing from top to bottom Their supporters where not much better. How Chapman thought he would come in after proclaiming the past 16 years a total failure is a good question to ask, the respect is not there for the deputies because these people have zero local experience. It is a sad state of affairs.

Well I am glad Simpson is gone and already forgotten by me.  Now Chapman hired his fed buddies Fiana and Fraga which is a big mistake.  FBI doesn’t know anything about police work is a fact.  The other guy should be retired and quite frankly doesn’t have any police experience.  The main problems I see are the road deputies.  They don’t know how to talk to people on the street.  The school resource officers are too comfortable and need to be rotated back to the streets every tree years.  I have over 32 years police experience both with the D.C. Police and Military Police.  To Sheriff Chapman I wish you luck and don’t be afraid to make decisions.

True remarks Retired LCSO. With the appointment of 2 retired Feds, a woman with zero law enforcement experience and a Lt. Col./Deputy Chief that has only street experience, the situation is precarious. What they all have in common is they worked on Chapman’s campaign. Unfortunately word is spreading throughout the county and area jurisdictions on some of the very early meetings with several of the aforementioned. It has become clear to many that Chapman is still running a campaign and not at all apparent he can run a law enforcement agency.

If we take the collective local law enforcement experience from the four top political appointees it totals 32 years, all from one man. Many are counting on the promoted Majors to help Chapman, and if the human communication barrier is broken that can be done.

No worries people, the dissension at the top under Chapman has already begun, and he just took office today.  he has already made some extremely poor errors in judgement and theya are the buzz of our agency.  Four years will be here before we know it and it is quite likely that Chapman will be a one-term sheriff.  This comes from one in the know.

Just because someone worked in upper administration alongside Steve Simpson does NOT make them his cronies.  Just as much as who will be working with Chapman will not be his.

The fact that you evil people would wish that someone would lose a job is beyond words.  Hateful.  Your karma will bite you.  The only deputies and such that are angry because of who was in office and how “badly they were treated” are the ones who are HEAVEN FORBID being held accountable to DO the job they ASKED the county for!! The jail was so horrible right that SO many representatives and consultants from jails ALL OVER THE COUNTRY were coming to tour LOUDOUN’S facility and learn the way the jail functioned!! Yeah that screams horribly run jail alright!

You evil sons of guns are CELEBRATING that some people can’t feed or take care of their families because a sheriff got voted in when LESS THAN 20% OF THE CITIZENS OF LOUDOUN REGISTERED TO VOTE EVEN SHOWED UP TO VOTE!!!  The sheriff you are praising… is not even a law enforcement officer.  He CAN NOT arrest anyone.  And you put him in charge.  When he’s admitted he has no idea what he’s doing and will “learn as he goes” with this.

Brilliant people you are.  Yes, let’s just swing it with criminals MURDERERS even, that they keep off the streets for YOUR safety.  Makes sense.  Moving up through the ranks is a risk anyone would take to support their families.  Yes they know they are at risk… but think about the people that Chapman didn’t even consider or SPEAK to when he decided to let them go.  On what decision then if he never spoke to them, interviewed them, etc… he made his decision on… rumors?  Great example for leadership!!

Reading what “smart person not a whining fool” wrote is a prime example why idiots should never be taught to read and write.  They have no clue as to what they are saying.  Every single Deputy that was terminated has worked his/her way up through the ranks from Deputy to Sgt, 2nd Lt, 1st Lt., Captain and Major.  (I know, I sat on many of their promotion boards).  The total years of service for these “political appointees” is in excess of 250 with an average of 23 years of service per person.  As a matter of fact the only “political appointments” (with the exception of one in 1984) since 1970 were made this week by Mr. Chapman for a total of 5.  I have been through 9 elections and 4 different Sheriffs and I have never seen such a blatant display of “political cronyism” as is being shown by Mr. Chapman.  This is the exact reason Loudoun County needs a County Police Department to protect the employees and see to it that this never happens again.

i would so love to know who actually got pink slips did any of detectives get the boot????? please let us know who got canned….. i cant wait to hear, im sorry i dont know the title of some of thier positions i love redemption !!!!!!!

\

“The Chapman’s for Sheriff campaign”

No one but the new duly elected Sheriff can make these appointments and he has every right to select people he trusts.  These leadership positions are not regular merit system county employees, they are at will executive appointments of the Sheriff.  The Simpson cronies had to expect they were gone if Simpson lost, and he lost badly.

Campaign payoffs are always problematic, and dangerous in a profession like law enforcement. I seem to recall sobbing cries of cronyism from the local blabbermouths on this race and others, but now suddenly there is cricket chirping silence. Hypocrisy at its finest.

The honeymoon period will be short. Enjoy it while it lasts.

From a deputy wife…. Unless you have worked under the old regime..you have NO idea how bad it was with SS and RB at the top.  Chapman is AWESOME and those of you talking about Liz…knock it off..she is amazing, too! Those of you disgruntled probably are those who are Simpson Cronies…
The ones of you who got the “pink slip” deserved it…..as posted before…What comes around goes around”!!
If you TRULY know what has been going on at the LCSO for many years…the pink slips are now what I like to call REDEMPTION!!
Mike Chapman and his top will do a great job. Mike is a smart man.  Those of you deputies that are worried about some that have stayed…it won’t take long for Mike to figure it out.
For those of you who have never been married or a part of anything law enforcement…I don’t expect you to understand b/c you can’t…BUT…one of the worst experiences is when the deputies are making very little money to put their life on the line at any minute, working to better their community, working holidays and crazy hours, being called out in the middle of the night…......AND being treated like garbage…..this is what it has been like for some time now at the LCSO.  The morale
around the department is already changing.  The deputies heads are higher and there are smiles on their faces again.  They, once again, can be proud to be in law enforcement..instead of being held down.

With anything new, there will be a learner curve.  I’m just glad the LCSO is once again a unified department.  There IS a new Sheriff in town and THANK GOD for that!

The “irritating chick that worked on the campaign” is the NEW communications person.  The token placement of a woman getting her campaign “salary” does not pass the smell test but to be determined. Don’t these jobs have a hiring process in place?

Sheriff,

Investigate, investigate, investigate…

Be fair but firm..

Some jealous people will never get over their hatred of people that are better looking and more successful than they are,

As the new regime goes through the books and gets the truth from the honest deputies who have been screwed, we’ll see a couple former bigwigs in handcuffs themselves in the New Year.  It’s a good thing to have high ranking federal connections in a local LE office.

How many of these cheering Chapman posts are part of the diabolic and always disgusting TC Crew?

Chapman has NO law enforcement experience???  Are you smoking crack???  Decades of experience at the county and federal levels including personally arresting some of the biggest criminals in the world is what Chapman has.  Quit listening to Ron Speakman.

Good gracious!  The voters in a low voter turnout actually voted in a new “Sheriff” with NO law enforcement experience, no government experience, not State level or County level?  That’s a learning curve regardless of his staff.  Then he lets go of the top people just because they worked under the previously elected Sheriff, never giving consideration to what experience he may need from some of these people to efficiently run the department?  He brings in so many new people at the top and includes several people who’ve already retired from jobs, who may stay a few years, then with their ages and service, retire again with full benefits at Loudoun County taxpayer experience?  Regardless of previous experience, they have a learning curve for understanding how County & State government interactively work together, what can and cannot be done with regard to budget issues, purchasing and the bidding process and personnel issues.  Not to mention understanding the human rights issues of people, even when they are incarcerated.  At the least, a two year learning curve is anticipated for a smooth running organization.  Is chaos in the crystal ball?

Sheriff Chapman,

Thank you for doing a good job. The command staff you selected is top notch, we Deputies are slightly confused about some of the old that stayed – but we will trust and support your judgment with a new found faith that their old tactics of fear mongering and bulling will no longer be allowed.

We have a simple request – ACCOUNTABILITY…

We Deputies demand excellence from our supervisors, we demand an example that is worthy to follow, and we seek character qualities that can be imitated.  We trust that those you kept with somewhat questionable backgrounds and leadership style will be kept on a short leash with heavy oversight to all actions they take.

Ltcol Harminson, Maj Noble, Maj Frye and Maj Buckman – what an awesome sound that is. In short for citizens that don’t know this is a dream team of LCSO folks that have “been there, done that” and believe in taking care of their people. They believe in training before discipline, integrity over friendships and honor over politics. None of the above has been tainted by the fraternization and nepotism that has plaque LCSO over the last two terms.

Not to forget the others that Sheriff Chapman has brought up, Cpt Tate, Cpt “AG” – congrats… Great choices for their new positions of leadership.

Having worked for “AG” I can say he is firm but fair, passionate about performance but rational in its implementation, and will do an awesome job at ELS..

CV,

How does it feel???

How does it feel to have no voice, how does it feel to have no influence, how did the conversation with your wife go, was she scared, as a man how did that feel? How does it feel to not know how you’re going to pay your bills?

You put so many Deputies in the same spot your in now and now you’re being held accountable.

Karma sir, karma is an unpretentious expression that runs subterranean and has a significance that can’t be articulated in vocalization. Karma sir, it ALWAYS comes around. Karma sir…. You get no sympathy, compassion, concern or empathy, what you get is a chance to “deal, take your lumps, take it on the chin, and feel the stir of the pot, its always good to be humbled, right?”.

In short – Karma is what you get.

It shall be known to all who read this – You Sir, are a LIAR….. You Sir are vindictive, deceptive and lack one leadership quality.

Karma…

More whining from the deposed Simpson crowd.  Your boy lost, and lost huge.  There’s a new Sheriff in town.  Get used to it.

Just solve some crimes besides coaches pushing football players and principals have a girl’s mid-drift on their phones.  These knuckleheads could not even protect skeletonclause on the Courthouse yard.

Two political crony appointments from the get go. If you look at the resumes of all the other appointments, these two appointments can not be explained as professional or in the best interests of the department. This doesn’t bode well for the LCSO. Where are the cries from the peanut gallery?

Wolverine - The only thing the Sterling Station Cmdr. needs is to start rounding up illegals.

Man, I can’t type

@ thomas - The people who moved up the chain accepted the positions of Captain and Major and so on.  They knew the risks that their boy Simpson may not be in re-elected.  If they were weren’t “untouchable” turds who did their jobs with integrity they would still be part of the club.  No sympathy

As far as the 11 not resworn; what the public needs to know is how it was done! A 3 day termination notice hand delivered in a letter by his new cronies! Chapman is no leader. He asked for resumes, said he would complete interviews and he did not do that? He fired people he never met! Chapman is a coward. Face the people you give 3 days notice too! After decades of service to their community, now several have nothing! No insurance, no severance.

Rick Frye is a good pick and well deserving of his promotion.  The downer is that Sterling Park will lose an excellent substation commander who worked hard at maintaining strong community links.  Chapman really needs to replace him with someone who has the same attributes.

What are the names of the 11 who did not get sworn in?  The public should know.  It’s public information.

Harmison is one of the strongest choices Chapman has made.  Others will strive to meet his level of integrity.  I feel safe with him on the watch.

Chapman is making a mark quickly (hopefully good- time will tell)...let’s see if the Board of Supervisors will follow, or if it will be “business as usual”
btw- what was that Janet Clarke comment about?

I guarantee that Tucker in the Badlands wouldn’t have the nerve to say that to Harmison’s face.  Surely a jealous idiot who just lost his job for cause.  Harmison is the real deal, LCSO is lucky to have him as Chapman’s number two.

Look people, at least Sheriff Simpson is not going to be able to demote personal or refuse them to be sworn in again because they may have spoken out against him.

I’m just glad that Sheriff Simpson did not get voted for another term and I really was surprised that people got off their butts and voted for a change.

What’s Janet Clarke got to do with the Sheriff’s new picks for jobs?

“I’m tired of this oppositional rant and the majority don’t even know me,”

Already Janet Clark takes a hostile approach to her constituents.  How can she call herself a leader?

Chris Harmison is a good pick. He’s been a road dog so he knows what it takes to get the job done to protect the citizens of this county. He also remembers what it’s like to push a cruiser at all hours and to go from inaction to action in a matter of seconds. He is a professional who will make sure his people are treated fairly and with respect so they in turn treat us the citizens the same way. Good pick. Way to go Sheriff

This issue about the Sheriff putting in his people reminds me of the movie Walking Tall.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X67H5J9ZMds

Fiano and Fraga, is that a personal injury law office?

Someone tug on Harmison’s hair and see if it flies off his head.

I know both Fraga and Fiano-both are hard working, smart, and have a ton of contacts that will bring additional resources to Loudoun County. They will work their butts off unlike the previous dead beats in the department -Great start for the new sheriff.

If most of our crime issues could be traced to a lack of administrative personnel in the Sheriff’s Office, this would be important news.

Who is responsible for rounding up the illegals and handing them over to ICE?

Major Noble is a good man too, his promotion is well deserved.

The biggest difference here, Bubba, is the man at the top.  Mike Chapman is NOT Steve Simpson, and his picks are not the same as the Simpson cronies.  Sure he is going to pick people he trusts for the top spots, but he retained plenty of good people from LCSO as well.  Chapman runs in much higher level and more ethical circles than Simpson ever did.  These picks reflect that pedigree.

Chapman is not doing anything different from what his predecessor did in his first term. Basically replacing the high command with his cronies who will cover his back when things get tough. Good resumes indeed but two at the top have seen better days 10 to 15 years ago and now are on the verge of being retired with over 30 years in service one place or another. One must wonder how much 21st century policing they can bring to the job that is alot more than a man on the beat or on patrol anymore.

And, now three of the top six jobs in the LCSO will be handled by retired Federal law enforcement officials drawing federal pensions. One must wonder if that will be a boon or a bust to Loudoun citizens and how hard will they really work at improving their new jobs.

Before anyone thinks that I am a Chapman hater let me assure you that I voted for him as well. And, I wish the new sheriff and his staff all the luck and success in the word with their new position. But starting out of the gate I see the same beginning that Simpson started with and we all know the ultimate results of that.

The only one I trust is newly promoted Major Frye, at least the jails will run smoothly.

Read the brief resume descriptions - it’s an impressive group, and most have been with LCSO for years.

Completely refreshing to see a new start with a very talented slate of public servants to revitalize our Sheriff’s Department.  Best of luck to all and a strong well done to Sheriff Chapman.

How do we know that they’re “outstanding picks”?  Other than his campaign manager, Liz, I’ve never heard of any of them.  Have you?

And the jerks who lost their jobs show up to complain as expected.  The good guys are in charge now, all the dirt will filter out from the past soon enough, and we’ll all find out who the bad guys were.
