Loudoun Fire and Rescue received a call this morning regarding a chemical spill at Middleburg Academy. Two adults were possibly exposed to the chemicals, and one woman was sent to the hospital.
Squads from Middleburg, Aldie, Farmwell, Round Hill, Purcellville and South Riding responded, according to Fire Rescue spokesperson Laura Rinehart. The hazardous materials team on site was from South Riding.
The school on Notre Dame Lane in Middleburg was evacuated.
“They evacuated and ended up closing down school for the day,” Rinehart said. “Teams are still in the process of determining what the chemicals are.”
The accidental exposure occurred in the school’s science lab. There is not expected to be further danger on the premises.
This is a developing story.
How do you know Im not a volunteer already? In case you didnt know, MVFD is the laughingstock of the Loudoun County Fire-Rescue system. Might have something to do with being investigated by the Sheriffs office and immature bickering with the paid guys.
@BOZO - With a name like Bozo there is no expectation of a sensible comment, and there was none! Instead of sitting around the house in the middle of the day posting stupid comments; why don’t you do something useful like volunteering YOUR time to help your community!
Thank you to the Middleburg Volunteer Fire Department. Oh wait - it was paid guys who showed up.
Some must have dropped a fluorescent light bulb….
