Auto Theft
Sept. 1, 9:30 a.m.
A 1996 Ford Aspire was stolen after the owner left it running near the intersection of Chappelle Hill Road and Lincoln Road in Purcellville. It was later recovered on the Snickersville Turnpike near Hibbs Bridge Road.
Destruction of Property
Aug. 30 – Sept. 2, 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Vandals spray-painted graffiti in a tunnel near the intersection of Misty Creek Place and Medix Run Place in Ashburn.
Aug. 31 – Sept. 1
Seven cars in the area of the 21700 block of Canfield Terrace in Sterling were “keyed.”
Aug. 31 – Sept. 2
Graffiti was spray-painted on two wooden fences around the 200 block of West Meadowland Lane in Sterling.
Sept. 1, 11 -11:30 p.m.
A street sign and several mailboxes were damaged by vandals in the area Purcellville Road and Hidden Springs Road in Purcellville. Street signs were also damaged where Purcellville Road intersects Charter House Lane and Grass Roots Lane.
Larceny
Aug. 30 – Sept. 2, 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.
A GPS unit was stolen from a car at the 43100 block of Thistledown Terrace in Ashburn.
Missing Person
Sept. 1, 1:15 – 4:05 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Office conducted a search for a missing 11-year-old autistic child with the assistance of Fairfax County helicopter support. The child was recovered in the area of Route 28.
Robbery
Sept. 1, 7:15 p.m.
A 20-year-old man reported being assaulted by persons known to him who stole his cell phone. The incident occurred at the 20 block of Newport Court in Sterling. The victim received non-life-threatening injuries.
Suspicious Event
Sept. 3, 5:30 p.m.
A 15-year-old reported that the occupants of a red car yelled at him and possibly shot a bb gun at him near the intersection of Whitewater Drive and Sandbank Square in Sterling. He was not struck.
Sept. 3, 6:21 a.m.
Residents of a home at the 42800 block of Forest Spring Drive in Leesburg reported a strange woman sitting on their front porch and then later attempting to open the door. Deputies could not locate her.
