Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli spoke Feb. 6 to guests of the Ronald Reagan Lecture Series at the Sterling Elks Club Lodge, where the gubernatorial hopeful detailed his views on the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Cuccinelli weaved the current political climate into his speech, focusing largely on health care and states’ rights. He said federalism will effectively be ended if President Barack Obama’s health care initiatives aren’t overturned.
“The federal government argues that your decision to do nothing, to not buy their Nancy-approved health insurance – to do nothing – is economic activity,” Cuccinelli said of Obama’s health care reform legislation.
In a brief flub, Cuccinelli during his speech asked whether he was in Loudoun or Fairfax County.
Occupy Ken Cuccinelli’s speech!
Too bad Ken Cuccinelli doesn’t care about people’s rights and freedom. He only cares about what the extreme set of the GOP cares about, and he uses our tax dollars to further that cause. Ken’s “battles” won’t benefit anyone but him.
Hey Ken, why didn’t you stick up for Virginians caught up in the robo-signing fraud? Plenty of resources to burn on going after a climate researcher, but when it comes to middle-class Virginians, Ken just does what the banks ask. Disgusting.
A celebration of bigotry convention…interesting.
AG Cuccinelli is seeking to become VA governor. I wonder if his visit to Sterling is a clue to his choice for Lt. Gov? Perhaps he is considering our Sterling District Supervisor, Eugene Delgaudio. They share a certain myopic worldview and a willingness to attack those VA residents least able to defend themselves. Elect the Cucinnelli/Delgaudio ticket!
the last two posts are so stupid. no one actually cares what you think.
The last posting is so arrogant. This is a good example of the Democratic stance, which is, “If you disagree with us, you are an idiot.” Democrats are so tolerant of anyone who agrees with them and follows like sheep. People are tired of your elitist, radical ways of looking down your nose at those who simply disagree with your position. Thank goodness, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli cares about the constitutionality of Obamacare and is fighting it!
It is amazing how stupid the last two posts are. Simply amazing that people with such low IQs can manage to live in Loudoun. Posts like that just make you want to quit on America. We stand no chance with idiots like that voting.
I like Cuccinelli because he’s fighting Obamacare. Anyone who is willing to stand up to Obama’s radical, job-killing policies has got my vote.
Governor Cuccinelli has a nice ring to it. Go Ken!!
Daryl, you really stretch to make your silly point? Anyone with two brain cells would know that the article was refering to the ELKS LODGE in STERLING, VA. but conservative tea party hacks can’t seem to recognize logical statements and must always make some asinine comment that simply shows their tea party supidity. Geez, get a life daring Daryl. TWIT first class.
What a uninformative, useless write up. The place was packed, the audience was engaged and the speech was great but you mention the Fairfax “flub” that was more of a joke? You really captured the evening!
Reagan has a legacy so distorted by the Conservative idolization of him that we may never have a clear picture of the real man behind the television set beyond the elaborate myth now concocted around him. Did he really rid the world of commie scum? Did destroy or save our economy? Check out my portrait of The Gipper in commemoration of the Reagan Centennial and help me figure it out on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/02/happy-100th-gipper.html
It is hilarious to see people like Cuccinelli act like Reagan would be on board with them. Reagan looks like a liberal compared to today’s wackjob social conservatives. Reagan wouldn’t stand a chance in Ken Cuccinelli’s ideal GOP. Stop putting him out there like the deceased spokesperson for your brand of conservatism. He didn’t practice it, nor did he preach it. Neither did Buckley or Goldwater.
By the way, lets all thank Ken for signing on to the (joke) settlement with the banks on robo-signers and fraud related to mortgage bundling. For a guy that loves to grandstand, when he had a chance to stand up for Virginians who were victims of fraud, he just laid right down. Thanks Ken. Keep subpoenaing climate change research though and wasting tax payer dollars on other personal crusades to further your career with the radical right of the GOP.
It is easy to see how Attorney General Cuccinelli might be confused about his location, since the author of the article is as well. Cuccinelli spoke at the Loudoun Elks Lodge in Sterling, Virginia . . . the Sterling Elks Lodge is in Sterling, Colorado. Perhaps this is why the author thought Cuccinelli was talking about political climate and not actual issues.
