Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli will be the featured speaker for the 2012 Ronald Reagan Lecture series Feb. 6 at the Sterling Elks Club Lodge, 401 W. Holly Ave., Sterling.
The 7:30 p.m. engagement falls on President Reagan’s 101st birthday.
Cuccinelli has announced he’ll seek the GOP nomination for governor of Virginia in 2013. His speech in Sterling is expected to highlight the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which “is at the center of a struggle between a political philosophy that advocates an expanded role of the federal government – and one that seeks to limit federal control over the states and the lives of American citizens,” according to a press advisory from the Loudoun County Republican Committee.
The 10th Amendment states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Cuccinelli will “present a robust explanation of the 10th Amendment and the reasons why, more than 225 years ago, our founding fathers saw the need to limit federal power in favor of state authority and individual rights,” according to the LCRC.
Contemporary issues such as healthcare, government regulations and federal spending will be touched on, as well.
The Ronald Reagan Lecture Series, sponsored by the LCRC since 2009, is advertised as a venue to promote limited government and conservative viewpoints.
Attendees of the free event are encouraged to bring canned goods or nonperishable food items.
Does the TC crew ever give up their childish taunts? Get a life bloggers, or at least some new material!

Well Ronnie wasn’t perfect was he Reagun weeps?
When Ken Cuccinelli stops pushing hot buttons to advance his own political career—and focuses on doing the job he should be doing while cashing paychecks funded by every taxpayer in Virginia; well, you’ll probably find that people don’t feel drawn to post disrespectful comments. Until that happens, Don, don’t act too surprised or disappointed in your fellow man. They’re just reacting to one more person who’s making a living off taxpayers while not doing very much of value for anyone.
Look forward to the presentation and thankful KC sued the US over the unconstitutional Obamacare mandate. What a healthcare disaster waiting to happen…only a leftist would think this is a good idea somehow…
Looks like the TC crew is here again. So many people to smear, so little time.
No Satchmo, we get people like Cuccinelli and Delgaudio because no one bothers to show up besides the religious extremists on the right wing.
Look at the Loudoun BoS elections last fall. What was the turnout? 35% or something? The wackos show up and everyone else brushes off voting. Result? 9 corrupt Republicans. 1 of whom leads a hate group. You are telling me that one of the best educated workforces in the country elected these clown? No, they didn’t bother voting.
There a lot of reasons why, and one of them is apathy I’m sure. Every race is bad against worst, and at the higher levels, rich idiot vs. rich idiot. I typically don’t like who I vote for, I just try and pick the least awful of the two. Maybe if more people just held their nose and voted for the guy least likely to screw things up, we could avoid more Ken Cuccinellis, Eugene Delgaudios, Bob Marshalls, Dick Blacks, and Frank Wolfs (not extreme, just worthless).
And the mocking and name calling continues…....
Speaking of brains, why is it that those who profess to have them undermine their own credibility by resorting to hate speech and derisive comments toward those with other viewpoints? America was founded on bold and noble ideas that have shaped our nation. Personal attacks only contribute more hate and misinformation. Ideas and principles will stand or fail on their own wisdom and merit.
Just what we need, another religion spewing, woman hating, homophobe. Isn’t there anyone with a brain running for gov?
EEEWWWWW…..not a fan. His way of fixing things is to sue, and use taxpayer money….don’t think Reagan would like this very much.
I’m not against criticism or debating the merits of one’s ideas. This can be done by an observation of results and outcomes of application of one’s principles and policies to our society at the local as well as the national level. What I object to is the “charged” words used which form perceptions and caricatures of public figures without subjective validity. “Insulting”, “self-righteous”, and “dim bulbs” as well as “imbecile” and the mocking of a person’s name is “Kookinelli” are opinions that are beneath where we should be in the debate of ideas to improve our society and culture as a whole.
Don, Cuccinelli’s initiatives are insulting. He deserves criticism. Public feedback has been a way of life for politicians for centuries. He deserves everything he gets. Too bad Delgaudio and Cuccinelli are to self-righteous to pay attention.
Personal insults only prove my point. If someone doesn’t agree with your values do you expect them to call you names?
Yup I agree with Don, ” No wonder few honest, decent citizens want to be involved in politics”. This is exactly how and why we get representation from dim bulbs like Delgaudio and Cuccinelli.
To the mockers: The lack of civility and respect in national politics leads to this kind of reaction on the local level. No wonder few honest, decent citizens want to be involved in politics. Seems like the only views that aren’t heckled and insulted are those that are contributing to the weakening of our society.
I hear many who preach about tolerance, civility, and freedom of speech, and bemoan the politics of personal destruction, name calling and negative campaigning. Those same people seem to be the biggest perpetrators of the same with anyone who doesn’t agree with their viewpoint.
Ronald Reagan wouldn’t know whether to laugh or cry about a reactionary imbecile like Ken Kookinelli.
..and I imagine Delgaudio will do the introductions. And dat is all you need to know about dat.
