Kelly Burk, who seeks to fill the seat of former Leesburg Town Council member turned Leesburg Supervisor, Ken Reid’s (R) seat will have a challenger come April’s special election. Dwight Dopilka, a 10-year resident of Leesburg filed to challenge Burk on Feb. 8.
Dopilka had been selected this year to serve as the Loudoun County Board of Supervisor’s representative to the Town of Leesburg’s Airport Commission.
Residents have until Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. to file to run for the special election that will be held on April 17.
