It may not be the president, but Northern Virginia Republicans will welcome two high-profile governors to the local GOP Victory office Saturday.
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will visit the Leesburg Victory station during “Super Saturday,” a national Republican door-to-door and phone banking offensive, according to 10th Congressional District Republican Party Chairman John Whitbeck.
McDonnell continues to be rumored as a wild card contender for Mitt Romney’s vice president pick. He stumped for Romney in Iowa July 26.
The 8:45 a.m. event Aug. 4 comes two days after President Barack Obama’s visit to Loudoun County.
McDonnell’s appearance will be his third in Loudoun County in 10 days. He gave remarks Salamander Resort and Spa in Middleburg July 26 after appearing in Iowa and headlined a ribbon cutting at Ashburn business RagingWire July 31.
Walker, meanwhile, is fresh off surviving a June recall election in his home state. A staunch conservative, Walker enraged many Democrats and union proponents after championing a measure that reduced collective bargaining rights in Wisconsin and required public employees to contribute a greater share of their pay toward benefits.
