Every year, U.S. News and World Report releases its best hospital rankings and this year Inova Loudoun Hospital ranked in the Top 15 in Virginia.
Inova Loudoun was recognized as one of the best hospitals in Northern Virginia, 8th in the Washington D.C. Metro area and 11th in Virginia.
Other Inova hospitals also did well in the rankings with all of the five hospitals under the Inova name ranking in the top 20. Inova’s flagship hospital Inova Fairfax Hospital was ranked first on the list.
“Inova is reinventing healthcare, increasing value for our patients,” Knox Singleton, CEO of Inova Health System said. “Our care model emphasizes collaboration between physician, patient and family underscoring wellness, education, research and care management as part of our commitment to improving the health of the community we serve.”
Included in the reports rankings are specialty rankings. Inova Loudoun preformed well in several specialties including Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Nephrology, Orthopedics, Pulmonology and Urology.
According to the news release, this year’s rankings showcases more than 720 of the nation’s roughly 5,000 hospitals. Fewer than 150 are nationally ranked in at least one of 16 medical specialties. The rest of the recognized hospitals met a standard of performance nearly as demanding in one or more specialties.
U.S. News Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow says the hospital rankings are an aid for patients to guide them to the hospitals with strong skills in procedures and medical conditions needed by prospective patients.
“All of these hospitals are the kinds of medical centers that should be on your list when you need the best care. They are where other hospitals send the toughest cases.” Comarow said.

It is up to HCA now…..

They’ve come along way since we first arrived in ‘99. What a mess they were then (typical podonk hospital)....INOVA taking them over was the best thing that could have happened for the folks of this county.
Satchmo, Prince William County has two hospitals that are under two different corporate umbrellas (NOVANT and SENTARA). Prince William Hospital in Manassas isn’t as highly rated as INOVA Loudoun and Sentar Potomac isn’t listed in the ratings.
INOVA does have competition in the region as a whole, from Reston and Winchester hospitals, as well as the institutions in Arlington and Washington DC. I’ve been happy with my experiences at Cornwall, Loudoun, and Fairfax hospitals so you can count me as a satisfied INOVA customer.
Can you imagine how better our healthcare would be if Inova didn’t have a monopoly? Competition is good for healthcare, consumers, and the hospitals. Corporate greed has allowed Inova to stay as our sole provider. We should have two hospitals in this county by now.
Satchmo - Typically I agree with you but in this case we are talking about ranked nation/state wide not county.

Easy to get ranked when you have no direct competition. Over five years since Inova won the fight to preserve their monopoly on Loudoun healthcare and we will don’t have another hospital.
Can you provide the list of the top 15?
