    Inova Loudoun names new CEO

Despite a national search for a new Chief Executive Officer, Inova Health Systems elected to stay in house and officially promoted the Interim CEO H. Patrick Walters as the new leader for Inova Loudoun Hospital.

Walters began working for Inova 25 years ago as the CEO of Inova Alexandria Hospital.

He has also served in a number of senior roles across the system over those 25 years, including working at both Inova Alexandria and Inova Mount Vernon Hospitals as their vice president and administrator.

In 1997, Walters was President and CEO of Alexandria Health Services Corporation and was the administrator of Alexandria Hospital. His leadership was instrumental in the merging of Alexandria Hospital into the Inova Health System.

“I think this is a terrific opportunity to work in a really special place. Inova Loudoun has great physicians, nurses, and staff across the organization serving a wonderful community,” Walters said in a release announcing the move. “As we move into the next 100 years of serving Loudoun County, we will continue to develop and expand facilities and programs to meet the growing and evolving healthcare needs of the public. I am thankful for the chance to work with this team and to be able to make a difference in the future healthcare in this area.”

Walters had taken over on an interim basis in January, when former CEO Randall Kelley left the system to take over as president and Chief Executive Officer of CaroMont Health, a private nonprofit health care system in Gastonia, N.C.

Walters earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration from George Mason University where he also conducted his undergraduate studies in finance and accounting.
