On any given Saturday morning, seven western Loudoun teens can be found at Frank Keim’s house in Lovettsville.

During breaks, you may hear the girls talk about boys at school or the boys talk about eating more doughnuts.

But once breaks are over, the teens get down to business and do what they do best – they rock.

They are the Immortals, a band Keim has put together with some of the best musicians in Loudoun.

All take music lessons from Keim at Loudoun Music Instruction, his home business.

The most talented students are selected to perform in rock bands, he said, and the Immortals is the band for the best musicians.

“I think the people in our community should be very proud that all of these children are homegrown and that we could put together such a special group right here,” Keim said.

The Immortals will play March 19 at 7 p.m. at Franklin Park in a concert to raise money for their April 30 trip to play at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.

The band’s members are all students at Loudoun Valley High School and Harmony Intermediate School. They include Erik Driscoll who plays drums and bass and sings; Laura Keim, who plays bass and sings; Julia Hiser, who plays piano and sings; Felicia Filicetti, who plays piano and synthesizer; Patrick Ryan, who plays guitar, drums and piano and sings; Zach DeHart, who plays guitar and piano and sings; and Joseph Keim, who plays drums, piano and percussion and sings.

“Seeing the Immortals excel is one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever done, and I’ve done a lot of things in my life,” Keim said.

“They’re so good that I get emotional talking about it.”

If you keep those intact, more success will follow.
