Loudoun Water’s Board of Directors voted Feb. 9 to approve a rate increase for developer-initiated community systems and the implementation of a three-tier water rate system consistent with the system for Loudoun Water’s Central System customers.
The 5-2-2 vote for the proposal were Loudoun Water Board Chairman Fred Jennings and board members Johnny Rocca, Mark Koblos, Pravin Gandhi and Ralph Watson. Voting against the proposal were recently-appointed board members Hobie Mitchel and John Whitmore.
The rates and structure for all usage were put into place after Feb. 10 for community system residents in Lenah Run, Elysian Heights, Raspberry Falls, Selma Estates, Beacon Hill, Rokeby and Courtland. New metered community systems that begin service will also adhere to this schedule. Community system customers will also begin to be billed on a monthly basis instead of the current quarterly process, according to Loudoun Water.
The approved rates are as follows:
•0-8,400 gallons – $2.99 per 1,000 gallons
•8,401-24,400 gallons – $7.23 per 1,000 gallons
•More than 24,400 gallons – $9.34 per 1,000 gallons
A basic (fixed) charge will be billed monthly as follows:
•Residential: $10.04
Commercial
•Three-fourth inch meter: $15.06
• One inch meter – $34.14
• One and one-half inch meter – $55.22
•Two inch meter – $90.36
•Three inch meter – $150.60
•Four inch meter – $251
•Six inch meter – $502
The approved sewer rate is as follows:
•Uniform rate per 1,000 gallons – $6

Of course the big developer and the big rural landowner voted against this - it goes against their own selfish interests to develop rural land. Both of them were just appointed by the new developer bought and paid for Board of Supervisors. Just wait until they get to make a few more appointments.
You name a “business” that is in one of those residential upper income communities, and then we’ll talk. And don’t even say the Raz Falls Golf club is a “business”.
Kinda looks bad for business that uses water does it not?
