Update: More details announced on Obama’s Leesburg visit

President Barack Obama will speak at Loudoun County High School in Leesburg Thursday around 7:40 p.m.

The Obama campaign will be distributing tickets, one per person, Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the school, located at 415 Dry Mill Road in Leesburg. Tickets will also be available at the Obama for America offices in Leesburg and Sterling.

The president’s expected Thursday to urge Congress to act on middle-class tax cuts and to “discuss his plan to restore middle-class security by paying down [the national] debt in a balanced way that ensures everyone pays their fair share,” according to a campaign email.

Viewed as a pivotal swing state in the contest between Obama and Republican Mitt Romney, Virginia went blue in 2008 for the first time since 1964. Northern Virginia specifically is seen as a hotly contested region which could go Republican or Democrat.

According to the most recent Real Clear Politics (RCP) polling numbers, which average prominent polls across the country, Obama has a 2 percent advantage nationally. In Virginia, RCP shows Obama ahead by a narrower margin, just more than 1 percent.

Mitt Romney has already made a visit to Loudoun this year, stumping in Sterling in June. His campaign’s Virginia communications director, Curt Cashour, released a statement July 27 following news Obama would visit the commonwealth.

“When President Obama visits the commonwealth, he should be straight with Virginians about his dismal economic record. After confirmation of a fourth consecutive trillion-dollar deficit and an abysmal GDP report, today was just another signal that the president’s policies haven’t worked,” Cashour said.

The national economy is viewed by some as the deciding factor of the 2012 election. In June the unemployment rate was 8.2 percent, a figure largely unchanged throughout 2012.

The president’s campaign has been quick to combat the unemployment stat with the fact the private sector has created nearly 4.5 million jobs in the past two-plus years.
During his speech in Leesburg, Obama is expected to touch on the importance of investing in education, energy, infrastructure and innovation. He’s likely to tie this into his economic plan.

According to figures provided by the Obama campaign, an average Virginia family has saved approximately $4,000 in taxes during Obama’s term.

“keep an eye on all the empty seats at the High School or unfolded bleachers”

Not to mention the bleachers that were taken down so as not to lend to the absence of people.
Maryland and DC buses ruled the day on this one. He couldn’t muster the numbers in Loudoun people.

    Loudoun County -

Your being a bit intellectually dishonest. How much did the Bush tax cuts help the average family and how much did he add to the national debt while he was President?  The answer is even worse.

Hows that conservative economics working out for you now?

“President Obama has already cut taxes for a typical Florida family by $3,400 over four years and a typical Virginia family by $4,000 over four years”

And he raised the debt by $5T.  For each American, that’s an extra $16.6k to pay back.  For a family of 3, that’s an extra $50k in debt to pay back since he took office.

So, your typical Virginia family got $4k over 4 years and their share of the federal debt went up $50k.

    Obamanomics.

Republicans? This board is spending money just like Obama. The only thing they cut was the Master Gardener program of 88 k. Rail more money, Economic Development more money, Schools more money. These people were voted in to take care of runaway spending and have floored it. Should be the Board of Spending thanks in large part to never to be trusted Reid’s flip-flop on Rail!

Richest county in the nation….Loudoun, yes this is where I as president need to be, talking to these people…..

So true @redcow…. Today’s story states Tix still available.
    LOL!!!

I find it laughable, that redcow and others spend the time making fun of our President.  I also find it amazing, that in this country of over 300 million people, Romney is the best person to oust Obama.  Really ? That’s the best we could come up with?  We are nothing but a country full of apathetic, monday morning quarterbacking, whiny crybabies.

    @ redcow
No, most people don’t have to wait 3 hours to get into a nightclub. Sorry to hear that’s been happening to you. Maybe… I don’t know…. go to the Obama rally and meet some cooler friends.
    @ SW
    are you serious?

Have you people who spent 3 hours in line for tickets been to a night club?  The door man was holding up the line and making you wait 3/hrs so you felt their was demand for this event. You folks got played. While you are watching Obama tap dance, keep an eye on all the empty seats at the High School or unfolded bleachers.

Thousands will be at Loudoun County High School on Thursday to hear the President.  I was one of the proud who stood in Leesburg for 3 hours to get tickets.  I don’t remember hearing any waits to get tickets for Mr. Offshore Bank Accounts when he spoke in Sterling.

Hate to break it to the Mittens crowd but it’s taking roughly 3 hours to work through the line waiting for tickets to see Obama on Thursday.  I doubt 150 people would line up for free Rmoney tickets.  Say goodnight, Mitt.

Listedned to it, read the entire transcript, yep.

Have to bull re Obama campaign.  Felon?  Talk about all the Lefties saying BHO statement taken out of context.

Team Obama should take their message of Hope and Change to SouthWest Virginia where folks are getting pink slips and factories are being shut down. He’s wasting his time in Loudoun with a 4.5% unemployment rate. Nobody is hurting around this region.

SWSWSW called it.  Why is Obama going to a High School with room for a few hundred instead of some big park with room for thousands? Obviously Obama isn’t expecting a big turnout.

    @  SWSWSW
You did see the entire clip of that right? Or did you just start it at “you didn’t build that” (e.g. you watched it on fox news)
Kinda like you start the 2nd amendment at “the right of the people to keep and bear arms”

Nahhh dude, see right through it lol

GDP delincing six straight months, but media remains silent.
I predict big win for freedom with Romney’s win

I predict Obama will again win NoVA, but by a smaller margin than in ‘08.  However, this win will not be enough to overcome resounding support of Romney from other parts of the state.  Romney wins by 3.

    @redcow:

Your statement is a zombie – no matter how many times you end it, it keeps coming back.  Presidential elections have the highest turnout.  Congressional midterm elections have a much more older and conservative electorate because there is lower turn-out.  But our 9 Republican Supervisors were elected in an off-year election, meaning not a Presidential year, and not even a midterm year.  The actual turnout across Loudoun was 17%.  You need to expect turnout for this Presidential election to be at least twice that.

    @SW:

The Secret Service had asked the Obama campaign not to do an outdoor event like Ida Lee anywhere due to security threats.  Venues like that are wide open and hard to secure.  When Romney came, even the “Marvelous” one couldn’t fill a venue like Loudoun County High.

Awesome, he’s now playing high school venues.
Far cry from 2008 when he came to Ida Lee.
Can’t wait to hear him continue to walk back the “You didn’t build that…” and the forthcoming glowing praise from LTM.
    99 Days…...

Team Obama might want to gauge Loudoun differently after electing and ALL Republican Board of Supervisors.
