Police charge Leesburg man for shooting at tow truck driver
Police have arrested a Leesburg man they say is responsible for firing shots toward a tow truck driver in Leesburg early Nov. 6.
Alexander Cowden, 25, is charged with removing a serial number from a firearm, a class 1 misdemeanor and possession of a stolen firearm.
Cowden turned himself in to authorities at 4:05 p.m. Nov. 7.
Police say Cowden fired shots at a tow truck driver early Tuesday in the first block of Plaza Street. No injuries were reported.
Leesburg police executed a search warrant at the home of at 66-126 Plaza St. NE during the late afternoon Nov. 6.
During the search Leesburg Police Detectives found a weapon as well as a ballistic vest and other items believed to be stolen in February 2011 from a FBI Agent’s issued vehicle in Fairfax County.
Police also found military type ballistic body armor, military tracer rounds and additional weapons.
The case remains under investigation with assistance from the FBI as well as the Fairfax County Police Department.
